A new metal-containing ionic liquid of [(C(4)H(9))(2)-bim](3)[La(NO(3))(6)] (bim = benzimidazole) was synthesized and the structure was characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR and elemental analysis. The molecule contained three independent cations of benzimidazolium and two independent anions of La(NO(3))(6)(3-). The center lanthanum had a cuboctahedral geometry by coordinating to twelve oxygen atoms from six nitrates. Moreover, the electrochemical properties of the title complex bulk-modified carbon paste electrode (La-CPE) have been studied, and the results indicate that the La-CPE has good electrocatalytic activities towards the reduction of hydrogen peroxide, nitrite, bromate and trichloroacetic acid (TCA). This modified electrode has good reproducibility, high stability, low detection limit, technical simplicity and the possibility of rapid preparation, which is important for practical application on electrochemical sensors.
Three new metal-containing ionic liquids (ILs) of N,N 0 -dialkylbenzimidazolium of [(C n H 2nþ1 ) 2 -bim] 2 [CuCl 4 ] (n=8, 10, 12) (bim=benzimidazole) were synthesized, and the structures were characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The cations of three complexes adopted U-shaped conformations and were packed in a bilayer fashion. The thermal behaviors of three complexes were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG). The ionic conductivities measurements showed that the ionic conductivities of the three complexes were different in absolute ethanol, and the ionic conductivities may relate to the coordination environment found for Cu(II) of three complexes.
A new metal-containing ionic liquid crystal of N,N -dialkylbenzimidazolium of [(C 12 H 25 ) 2bim] 2 [Co(SCN) 4 ] (bim = benzimidazole) was synthesized by reaction of the ligand [(C 12 H 25 ) 2bim]Br and cobalt (II) thiocyanate. Its structure was characterized by X-ray crystallography, IR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The cation of the title complex adopts a U-shaped conformation and is packed in a highly interdigitated bilayer fashion. The distorted tetrahedron [Co(SCN) 4 ] 2is located between the cationic bilayers individually. The liquid crystalline behavior of the title complex was studied by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. The results of the ionic conductivity measurement displayed that the ionic conductivity of the title complex was significantly higher than that of the ligand. The conductivity of the title complex had very large difference in the different organic solvents, while that had a maximum value in N,N -dimethylformamide solution.
