The devastating context of the Covid-19 pandemic has created a new reality in which tourism has practically come to a standstill, a situation that must be reversed. This study focuses on the revitalization of businesses run by lifestyle entrepreneurs, a very significant class, of pivotal importance in innovation in the tourism sector. Specifically, this study aims to identify the most relevant indicators to select the recovery strategies of these entrepreneurs. Using the Delphi method combined with the Q-sort technique, a ranking of the indicators was produced on the basis of input from a panel of 26 senior managers and academics. The top five indicators were: creativity and innovation, level of innovation, qualification, startups number, and turnover volume. Findings reveal that the priority is on innovation and the qualification of the entrepreneurs. Only afterward do the traditional indicators of competitiveness of tourist destinations emerge.
As a result of the pandemic and the consequent changes in labor market patterns, firms are facing a difficult moment in attracting and retaining talented employees. In these new patterns, remuneration factors are increasingly a necessary but not sufficient condition to address this challenge. Given this background, this study seeks to identify the role of perceived organizational support in affective organizational commitment. In order to achieve this objective, structural equation models were used based on survey data from a sample of 333 respondents. The findings of this study reveal that perceived organizational support positively influences affective organizational commitment, job involvement, and job satisfaction. Furthermore, job involvement and job satisfaction were found to play a mediating effect in the relation between perceived organizational support and affective organizational commitment.
This research aims to evaluate the degree of customer satisfaction of the nightclubs with the security guards, as well as the perception of their professionalism in performing their duties. Using survey data from 479 nightclubs clients to assess the clients’ professionalism perception of bouncers-doormen and satisfaction. The results indicate an overall satisfaction and bouncers-doormen to be recognized as professionals. Findings also partially contradict previous research. Despite recognizing a certain degree of abuse of power, customers consider those professionals as helpful, especially in emergency situations where they provide guidance and the necessary support. They are also considered to properly watch and protect people and goods in night-time entertainment spaces and have a good ability to foresee and anticipate incidents.
This study seeks to identify the most important criteria for selecting private security service providers, specifically manned guarding. Previous research on provider selection has been generic focusing on multi-criteria model decision development, but not on the previous stage where industry related criteria should be identified. Given that manned guarding is a service that affects our daily lives, it is important to focus attention on this area of activity. Selecting a private security service provider should therefore be a process in researchers’ agenda. We contribute to the literature by identifying relevant criteria in manned guarding provider selection and by using a methodology than can be applied in other industries to identify sensitive criteria besides traditional factors (eg. price, quality, delivery). We gathered a panel of 15 experts in this field to apply Delphi method by gathering their opinion in ordering the most important criteria to select manned guarding service providers. Results shows price as the most important criterion, but it was closely related to the professional experience of the operations managers (supervisors and directors), the geographic location and the financial stability of the companies.
