The article discusses the technology of growing essential oil crops on the example of peppermint. In particular, the light spectrum that is optimally suitable for mint vegetation is considered, including the possibilities of using mint extract in the current industrial situation.
Recently, there has been a strong increase in interest in the cultivation of essential oil and medicinal plants in Russia. These agricultural products are actively used in the production of raw materials for the perfume-cosmetic, pharmacological and food industries. The main products are obtained from wild plants, but now plants that are not found in wild form on the territory of the Russian Federation, plants with a limited range and a small raw material base are introduced into the culture. Essential oil produced by plants is considered a valuable natural resource, and in this regard, the market value of products can vary greatly, thereby increasing demand.
