Results: the data led us to the category: "nursing care as attention: advances, obstacles and challenges". An attentive care was evident, but with emphasis on technical procedures and focused on the newborn. Conclusion: the puerperal women's understanding about the received nursing care in joint accommodations indicates a technical care, fragmented and lacking in integral assistance; although it was considerate and in accordance with needs of some women. los datos nos llevaron a la categoría: "El cuidado de enfermería como atención: avances, obstáculos y desafíos."El cuidado atento fue evidente, sin embargo, con énfasis en los procedimientos técnicos y centrado para el recién nacido.
