A Leishmaniose Tegumentar é uma doença infecciosa não contagiosa, de caráter zoonótico que está presente em 98 países, sendo considerada um problema de saúde pública mundial. É causada por protozoários Leishmania sp. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi realizar um levantamento epidemiológico dos casos novos de LT na Região de Saúde Madeira Mamoré no estado de Rondônia, situado na região amazônica, no período de 2012 a 2016. O estudo foi realizado através de uma análise de incidência de casos de LT contidos no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação e as variáveis estudadas foram: regiões, gênero, faixa etária, evolução de casos, formas clínicas e classificação epidemiológica. Trata-se de um estudo de caráter descritivo, transversal e retrospectivo com abordagem de dados do tipo qualitativo e quantitativo. Foram registrados no estado de Rondônia 5.719 casos de LT, sendo que destes 1.077 (19%) ocorreram na Região de Saúde Madeira Mamoré. Através da análise dos dados conclui-se que a maioria dos casos ocorreu em pacientes do sexo masculino, representando 86% (927) dos casos em idade produtiva, estando relacionado ao padrão epidemiológico ocupacional. A lesão cutânea foi a forma predominante, ocorrendo em 90% (969) dos casos e, em 95% dos casos, o critério de confirmação foi o diagnóstico clínico-laboratorial. Em relação aos casos notificados no período estudado, a maioria evoluiu para a cura (60,5%). A LT possui uma prevalência considerável na região estudada, fazendo-se necessários maiores investimentos e estudos para viabilizar ações preventivas, o diagnóstico precoce e o tratamento, oferecendo assim uma possível melhoria na qualidade de vida dessa população.
