La gestión contable de las empresas comerciales en el marco de las NIIF para PY-MES 266 modelo se basa en cinco pilares fundamentales para lograr una gestión eficaz que soporte la toma de decisiones estratégicas y el logro de los objetivos empresariales. Los pilares del modelo son: el gobierno corporativo, el control de gestión, el proceso contable, el sistema de información y el marco legal aplicable. ABSTRACTAccounting management in Ecuador requires more than the domain of the theoretical accounting framework (IFRS) the identification and evaluation of transactions that need a differential accounting and tax treatment, for this, a formal connection of the accounting information prepared under IFRS criteria is required, with current tax regulations. In this context, the objective of this article is to design an accounting management model for Comercial Sánchez, a retail business of staple food and complementary services, located in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador. The model is based on five fundamental pillars to achieve effective management that supports strategic decision making and the achievement of business objectives. INTRODUCCIÓNLa gestión contable y su importancia para la sobrevivencia y éxito de los negocios ha sido estudiada durante décadas, y es reconocida por la comunidad académica y empresarial en todas partes del mundo. La necesidad de una administración basada en los resultados obtenidos por el ejercicio de la contabilidad y la información que ésta provee, es una realidad en empresas de todos los ramos y tamaños, a lo largo y ancho del globo.La presente investigación surge para dar respuesta a la problemática detectada en el Comercial Sánchez de la ciudad de Cuenca, Ecuador. El comercial es una empresa familiar del ramo de la comercialización de alimentos de primera necesidad y de servicios complementarios. Por el valor bruto de sus ventas anuales y la cantidad de trabajadores (doce), el comercial se encuentra categorizado como pequeña empresa, de acuerdo a la definición del tamaño de las compañías utilizado por la Superintendencia de Compañías, Valores y Seguros (SUPERCIAS) (2019).Asimismo, el comercial cumple con los criterios de la Norma Internacional de Información Financiera (NIIF) para pequeñas y medianas entidades (en adelante pymes), al no tener obligación pública de rendir cuentas y publicar estados financieros con propósito de información general para usuarios externos (NIIF para PYMES, 2016).
