This article is a presentation of teaching, research and outreach project of the design of a geotour‑ ism route in the heritage centre of Porto Nacional‑TO. The project is designed from a practical perspective of the possibilities for tourism in the old city centre. The knock‑on effects of tourism and the re‑interpretation of the city centre are also considered for the municipality with a roadmap designed to structure planning and development and contextualising how tourism can evolve within the urban space of Porto Nacional‑TO, based on groundwork revision of the bibliography available and qualitative fieldwork based on participant observation of the route.
