RESUMO:Neste artigo realizou-se um comparativo referente ao setor arrozeiro entre o Brasil e Uruguai. O Uruguai tem excelentes resultados na sua orizicultura e pode servir de exemplo e modelo para o Brasil, já que se considera que a nação brasileira precisa investir para melhorar o rendimento do setor arrozeiro. Com isso, este estudo tem como objetivo analisar a relação dos fatores produtivos na produtividade do arroz no Brasil e no Uruguai. Além disso, o estudo também investiga as orientações e incentivos institucionais que fomentam a produtividade do setor arrozeiro em ambos os países, efetuando uma análise comparativa. Quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, este estudo é descritivo e explicativo, sendo uma investigação de dois casos comparativos do tipo cross country. Utilizaram-se dados qualitativos e quantitativos através de análise de regressão linear simples. Os resultados sugerem que as políticas uruguaias integradas são fatores importantes para sua competitividade assim como o uso da tecnologia. Os créditos ofertados no Brasil não são suficientes para melhorar a rentabilidade. O presente estudo possui algumas fragilidades importantes. Primeiramente é necessário apontar que as fontes de evidências consultadas são limitadas. Além disso, foram considerados dados de um ano apenas e também não foram considerados outros fatores (por exemplo, clima e recursos hídricos) que afetam fortemente o setor arrozeiro.
