PreâmbuloNo Centro Espírita Beneficente União do Vegetal (CEBUDV), o chá denominado hoasca, ou vegetal, conhecido como ayahuasca, 1 propicia um encontro do sujeito com a entidade que o habita, o Mestre Gabriel. A presente discussão propõe uma análise antropológica da dinâmica do sagrado em um grupo sincrético brasileiro que elabora sua esfera mágico-religiosa por meio da simbólica do transe provocado pela bebida psicoativa, 2 à qual se atribui o poder de induzir experiências místicas (Eliade, 2002;La Barre, 1971; Lévi-Strauss, 1989). Esse encontro extraordinário é nomeado burracheira, através do qual o adepto acede à doutrina do líder espiritual. Na União do Vegetal é a doutrina que torna a substância um veículo de "conhecimento", e não seu mero efeito químico no organismo, evidenciando o valor da sobremarcação simbólica que organiza a hipertrofia dos sentidos experimentados no rito.A expressão matrizes urbanas da ayahuasca, referida ao Alto Santo, Barquinha, União do Vegetal e Santo Daime/ICEFLU (Goulart, 2004;Labate, 2004), localiza o sincretismo dessas linhas ayahuasqueiras nas franjas dos elementos cristão, afro-brasileiro, xamânico, kardecista e esotérico. Para Monteiro da Silva (2004), aí estão dispostos modos parciais de assimilação de culturas indígenas americanas e religiões afro-brasileiras, recentemente revigoradas com os denominados grupos neo-ayahuasqueiros (Dawson, 2009), surgidos de cisões dos grupos matriciais (Labate, 2004), mais alinhados com a nebulosa mística comportamental da Nova Era (Magnani, 1999;Amaral, 2000).Para estes, as matrizes teriam se contaminado com o aspecto institucional e se distanciado da natureza verdadeira da espiritualidade.Na discussão ora apresentada, o encantamento que recobre o sentido do transe, não obstante as forças místicas inspiradas na tradição xamânica e afro -brasileira que informam a relação do sujeito com a entidade presente na bebida, possui uma irrevogável centralidade do "eu" na constituição da espiritualidade
