El presente artículo expone los beneficios de la planta de Sacha Inchi en todas sus etapas, desde la siembra hasta la cosecha, midiendo el costo de producción de cada una de ellas. Se partió desde una revisión bibliográfica aplicada al proceso productivo tomando como base el análisis de las investigaciones científicas realizadas a las plantaciones de Sacha Inchi y de la fundamentación teórica de la aplicación de la contabilidad en el sector agrario. Se presenta desde el descubrimiento de la planta, los principales países en los que se ha sembrado, las plantaciones de Sacha Inchi en el país y los incentivos realizados por el gobierno ecuatoriano que fomentan la producción de la planta, así como los productos que se pueden obtener de ella. Se analiza la contabilidad de costos como fuente de información fundamental para las empresas agrícolas en la toma de decisiones, determinando el sistema de costos ABC como el más apto a aplicar para este tipo de actividades. Se identificó los elementos del costo en cada una de las etapas y se describe los posibles costos en que los empresarios del sector deberían de invertir para obtener una utilidad. Finalmente se concluye que el artículo es una fuente de información esencial en la toma de decisiones para aquellos emprendedores que desean invertir en plantaciones de Sacha Inchi en reemplazo de la palma africana, la cual es más resistente a enfermedades y hongos
