Fenomena pembangunan pada wilayah peri-urban menghasilkan masalah-masalah yang mendasar, seperti infrastruktur yang buruk, perencanaan penggunaan lahan yang buruk, akuisisi lahan, perambahan, permukiman kumuh pada area perumahan sederhana, sosial dan lingkungan. Biasanya, penyediaan layanan lingkungan dan sosio-ekonomi vital di area peri-urban terbengkalai oleh instansi pemerintah karena adanya yurisdiksi yang tumpang tindih dan tidak jelasnya dan koordinasi tanggung jawab manajemen. Pengelolaan sampah adalah salah satu layanan yang terbengkalai pada wilayah peri-urban di wilayah Kota Manado dan Kabupaten Minahasa. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pola penanganan sampah pada perumahan di kecamatan Pineleng Kabupaten Minahasa. Pengamatan dilakukan pada kawasan permukiman terencana yang berada di Kecamatan Pineleng (wilayah peri-urban). Mendata sarana pengeloaan sampah dan menganalisis menggunakan software ArGis 10.3 dan melakukan wawancara. Kesimpulan diperoleh bahwa perumahan dan permukiman terencana di wilayah Kecamatan Pineleng tidak memiliki pola pengumpulan sampah sesuai Peraturan Menteri Pekerjaan Umum Republik Indonesia Nomor 03/Prt/M/2013.
Mitigasi Gas Rumah Kaca adalah proses mengupayakan berbagai tindakan preventif untuk mereduksi emisi gas rumah kaca yang ditimbulkan akibat dari kegiatan usaha. Jalan Sam Ratulangi, salah satu jalan utama di Kota Manado sangat rentan terhadap kemacetan yang menghasilkan gas karbon monooksida (CO) yang menjadi salah satu unsur gas rumah kaca (GRK), terutama pada jalan Sam Ratulagi ysng melintas pada area kecamatan Wenang. Memerlukan vegetasi yang mampu menyerap CO pada jalur hijau koridor jalan Sam Ratulangi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode dekriptif analitis. Data diperoleh dengan cara survei, analisis data menggunakan ArcGis. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh vegetasi yang memiliki daya serap CO 2 paling tinggi adalah pohon trembesi dan koridor pada jalur hijau Sam Ratulangi 2 (Kecamatan Wanea) ditanami oleh pohon yang terbanyak menyerap CO 2.
