A crescente ocupação do sudoeste de Mato Grosso tem provocado o desmatamento de grande parte da vegetação natural para a exploração agropecuária, sem o adequado uso e manejo do solo, originando áreas de alta fragilidade ambiental e suscetibilidade à erosão hídrica. Para estimar a perda de solo na Bacia Hidrográfica do rio Jauru foi utilizada da Equação Universal de Perdas de Solo operacionalizada por meio de Geotecnologias. No período de 1994 a 2003, a perda média de solo foi de 3,26 t ha-1 ano-1, correspondendo a uma perda nula ou moderada e a erosividade média foi de 683,93 Mj mm ha-1 h-1 ano-1. 81,75% da superfície da Bacia Hidrográfica do rio Jauru é recoberta por solos de elevada erodibilidade (Neossolos Quartzarênicos, Neossolos Litólicos, Argissolos Vermelhos e Argissolos Vermelho-Amarelo). O fator topográfico (LS) médio da bacia foi de 2,05. A análise da ocorrência das principais classes de cobertura e uso do solo evidenciou que 28,32% do solo da bacia foram utilizados para uso agropecuário, com predomínio de pastagens. As estimativas geradas pela Equação Universal de Perdas de Solo devem ser consideradas como comparativas da distribuição da erosão hídrica em uma bacia e visam auxiliar na tomada de decisão sobre o uso e manejo do solo mais adequado.
Culturalmente a região Sudoeste mato-grossense é diversa, podendo ser atribuída à existência de populações migrantes e às comunidades tradicionais. Objetivou-se discutir a organização das mulheres do campo na região Sudoeste mato-grossense, que obtêm sua remuneração e contribuem para o aumento da renda familiar através do extrativismo sustentável de frutos nativos do Cerrado (Savana). O delineamento utilizado foi o estudo de caso. Os recursos financeiros obtidos pelas mulheres são expressivos e têm contribuído de maneira significativa para a sobrevivência do grupo familiar, como também para o reconhecimento de sua força de trabalho e na conquista de cidadania. Entretanto, as políticas públicas precisam ser ajustadas de modo a valorizar o trabalho das mulheres para a produção e reprodução familiar no campo e sua contribuição social no desenvolvimento regional.
A economia de Mato Grosso é sustentada na produção agropecuária, que é extremamente dependente das condições climáticas e, nos últimos anos, o estado tem investido no turismo. Situação semelhante vem ocorrendo em Cáceres-MT onde, devido às temperaturas elevadas e longo período de estiagem, necessita-se de informações dos componentes climáticos para o adequado planejamento e desenvolvimento, local e regional. Para execução da pesquisa foram utilizados dados meteorológicos da Estação do INMET de Cáceres, referentes ao período de 1971-2009, para caracterização de aspectos climáticos e cálculo do balanço hídrico climatológico. A estimativa da evapotranspiração potencial foi realizada conforme Thornthwaite (1948) e o cálculo do balanço hídrico conforme Thornthwaite & Mather (1985), considerando uma capacidade de água disponível (CAD) de 100 mm. A temperatura média anual foi de 26,24° C. A temperatura média mensal mais alta ocorre no mês de outubro (28,01° C) e as médias mensais mais baixas nos meses de junho e julho, 23,39 e 23,36° C, respectivamente. A precipitação total anual é de 1.335 mm. O período de maior concentração pluvial média ocorre de dezembro a março e o período de maior estiagem ocorre de junho a agosto. A evapotranspiração potencial média é de 1.650,55 mm. Palavras-chave: sazonalidade, disponibilidade hídrica, clima, balanço hídrico.
Este estudo objetivou avaliar a suscetibilidade à erosão hídrica como indicador de vulnerabilidade ambiental da sub-bacia do Córrego do Guanabara no município de Reserva do Cabaçal–MT. O mapa de erodibilidade foi elaborado através da associação dos tipos de solos com classes de erodibilidade. A combinação do mapa de erodibilidade com o do fator topográfico originou o mapa de susceptibilidade à erosão. O mapa do potencial à erosão foi obtido pela combinação do mapa de susceptibilidade à erosão com o de uso atual da terra. Foram coletadas amostras, deformadas e indeformadas, na camada de 0,0-0,1m e 0,1-0,2m, em ambientes considerados como degradado, moderadamente degradado e natural. A sub-bacia apresenta predominância de Neossolos Quartzarênicos (62,06%), sendo que 91,90% de sua área se apresentam extremamente susceptíveis à erosão hídrica e 8,10% muito susceptível à erosão hídrica. A textura do solo não se diferiu nos ambientes estudados, porém demonstrou a predominância da fração areia, o que é característico desse tipo de solo. O ambiente natural apresentou maior quantidade de macroagregados estáveis em água. A análise de vulnerabilidade se torna importante, pois fornece informações sobre a maior ou menor susceptibilidade de um ambiente ao processo de erosão, fornecendo ferramentas para o adequado planejamento, uso e ocupação do solo.
A precipitação pluvial (PP) tem função essencial na definição do clima e do potencial agrícola de uma região, e o conhecimento de seu comportamento ao longo do tempo é imprescindível para o monitoramento dos impactos causados pelo excesso ou pela falta prolongada de chuva. Foram utilizados dados mensais pluviométricos do Instituto Nacional de Meteorologia, referentes à estação de Cáceres-MT, no período de 1971 a 2011. Para análise da variabilidade da PP, utilizaram-se parâmetros estatísticos descritivos. A definição das estações seca e chuvosa foi realizada por meio de duas metodologias. Foi realizada também a avaliação da magnitude da seca no município. A PP anual de Cáceres é de 1.320,4 mm, sendo que o mês com maior PP é janeiro (251,9 mm) e o de menor PP é agosto (15,5 mm). A PP apresentou tendência de redução ao longo da série. Cáceres apresentou duas estações bem definidas, com período chuvoso de novembro a março e período seco de abril a outubro. Na época de estiagem, a seca foi classificada como extrema (I >-0,6) na maior parte do período de estudo.
