Many efforts have been made in energy efficiency in power plants. One way to improve the efficiency of energy use is to conduct analysis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the thermal efficiency of a diesel engine with B30 at PLTD Selat Panjang unit 4. The data were collected using a daily operation report log sheet for Caterpillar 3512B diesel with duration 3x24. From the calculation carried out, the average thermal efficiency of diesel engine with B30 as fuel at PLTD Selat Panjang was 47.52%.
This study discusses determining the optimal scheduling for maintenance of gas turbine engines in PLN Tanjung Datuk Pekanbaru. The optimal maintenance scheduling is done on critical components, namely turbine blade and AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) using Monte Carlo simulation. The optimal scheduling maintenance scenario is done by generating random numbers from MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) and MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) values and data validity testing. The results of research for optimal checking of turbine engines are once every 10 days with the reliability of turbine engines 43%. The optimal time for repairing a gas turbine in case of damage is 1.49 hours. The checking time for critical components of the turbine blade is 9 days and AVR of 12 days. The scenario of preventive maintenance is likely need special repair or replacement periodically that is 117 days for turbine blade components and 173 days for AVR.
Biodiesel is an alternative fuel, which can be used as a substitute for fossil fuels. Biodiesel has different characteristics than fossil fuels, so need study to improve engine performance. One way to improve engine performance by vary the fuel filter mesh. In this study by varied the size of the filter mesh with sizes of 2, 10, and 30 microns. This study used B40 (a ratio 60% diesel and 40% biodiesel) and B50 (a ratio 50% diesel and 50% biodiesel) as fuel. Then, an engine rpm was varied by brake pressure load of 2500 kg/m2, 5000 kg/m2, 7500 kg/m2, 10000 kg/m2, and 12500 kg/m2. As results, the optimal mesh size used for B40 was 2 microns and 30 microns for B50 fuel. From the comparison of engine performance results, the fuel filter mesh used in B40 fuel has better engine performance results compared to B50.
North Duri Cogeneration Plant (NDC) is once of Chevron asset in IndoAsia Business Unit. The NDC location is in Duri, Province of Riau, Indonesia. The NDC has 3 units gas turbine and each unit has been combined with Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG). An unit gas turbine NDC is produce electricity of 100 MW, and 1 unit of HRSG NDC that is produce steam of 360,000 BCWEPD (Barrel Cool Water Equivalent per Day). Hot gas path inspection (HGPI) is maintenance activities gas turbine, which routine scheduled in NDC every 3 years per unit. Maintenance schedule for turnaround HGPI gas turbine at NDC should be optimizing. By optimized of HGPI maintenance schedule can be maximized work plan, which is comply of 4 Key Performance Indicators there are Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost through Initiative for Managing PA Cesetter Turnarounds (IMPACT). The result of optimal electricity production was increased by 13,174 MWh and the steam generated from units in NDC of mass total steam of 126,661 Mlbm and 371,827 BSPD.
The increasing energy efficiency program will decrease the consumption of energy. If these improvements are carried out together, it will certainly ensure energy reliability for a sustainable and better future. The aim of this paper was to investigate the possibility of increasing efficiency in the crude oil heating system at PT. Pertamina EP Asset 1 Lirik Field. The research method was done by modification the steam cycle using the close and open Feed Water Heater (FWH). As result, the efficiency of steam cycle of close FWH increased 2.53% and 2.78% for open FWH. While the efficiency of the steam cycle in the initial conditions was 36.74%.
