Schülerinnen und Schüler aller Schulstufen weisen wiederkehrend schlechte Rechtschreibleistungen auf. Dadurch rücken verstärkt der Rechtschreibunterricht und das Wissen und Handeln der unterrichtenden Lehrkräfte in den Fokus der orthographiedidaktischen Forschung. Allerdings wurden bislang weder die tatsächliche Praxis des Rechtschreibunterrichts noch Wissen und Überzeugungen der Lehrpersonen hinreichend erforscht.
Vor diesem Hintergrund versammelt der vorliegende Band aktuelle empirische Arbeiten zur Professions- und Professionalisierungsforschung in der Orthographiedidaktik. Die Beiträge zeigen exemplarisch das breite Spektrum der Forschungsgegenstände, Perspektiven und methodischen Zugänge, die sich aus dem domänenspezifischen Blick auf Lehrerprofessionalität und Rechtschreibunterricht ergeben: Was wissen und denken Lehrkräfte über Orthographie und ihre Vermittlung? Wie handeln sie im Rechtschreibunterricht und welche Praktiken lassen sich rekonstruieren? Wie kann die professionelle Handlungskompetenz von Lehrkräften für die Domäne "Richtig schreiben" gestärkt werden? Und, nicht zuletzt: Wie lässt sich die (eigene) Praxis forschend entwickeln?
