Background and Study Aim. The purpose of the study is to give a comparative description of the somatotypes, anatomical components of the body, and motor qualities of female students studied at the university (Irkutsk, Russia) in 2009 and 2019. Material and methods. It was conducted the survey and somatotypological diagnosis of 1226 female students (in 2009 – n = 762; in 2019 – n = 464) on 27 anthropometric parameters. It was measured: Pinier index; the average value of the absolute and percentage of the bone component of the body (BC), the fat component of the body (FC), and muscle component of the body (MC). The following indicators were evaluated by motor tests: speed endurance and agility; speed; speed and strength endurance of the trunk flexor muscles; strength and endurance of the shoulder girdle muscles; dynamic strength of the lower limb muscles; active flexibility of the spine; overall endurance. Results. In 2019, compared to 2009, there was observed: a decrease (by 19.6%) in the number of normosthenic females; an increase in the number of hypersthenics (by 70.9%), and asthenics (by 27.4%); body weight gain; decrease in body length. The values of the following indicators significantly decreased in 2019: the trunk length, upper and lower limbs; chest circumference. There was a decrease in the average values of body circumference; shoulder width. It was observed an increase in pelvic width. In 2019, compared to 2009, the following indicators were determined in females of all somatotypes: a significant increase in body fat content and a decrease in muscle mass (p <0.05). As a result, the strength of the hands' dynamometry decreased. After 10 years, the bone component in the females’ body has not changed. Conclusions. The obtained data indicate a deterioration in all motor skills of females surveyed in 2019, compared to 2009. This is a consequence of the growing hypodynamics of modern youth. The obtained results of surveys expand the database of anthropometric and motor parameters of the young generation of Russia. This data can be used in planning training and coaching activities in educational and sports organizations.
The article outlines the problem of pre-school children’s health preserving and strengthening. One of the ways to solve the problems of improving children’s health and preventing various diseases is proposed – fitball aerobics classes, as a type of fitness aerobics using large gymnastic balls – fitballs. The objective of this research is to characterize fitball-aerobics, as preschool children’s innovative means of physical education and to develop a methodology for the complex effects of fitball-aerobics exercises on the development of physical abilities of preschool children’s age in order to determine its effectiveness. The research was conducted in the period from 2016 to 2018 in educational organizations of preschool education in Chelyabinsk. Children of preschool age took part in the aged 5-7 years. A total of 40 children participated in the experiment, 20 people in the control group and other 20, in experimental one. The work done does not infringe on the rights and does not jeopardize the well-being of schoolchildren in accordance with the ethical standards of the Committee for the Rights of Experiments of the Helsinki Declaration. Parental consent to examine children was obtained. The developed and tested methodology for the complex effect of fitball-aerobics exercises on preschool children’s physical abilities development had a possitive impact.
Background and Study Aim: To create the estimation scale of the daily pedometry of senior students with different levels of motor activity. To determine the dependence of students' life quality on the volume of step locomotions. Material and methods. The students of Irkutsk National Research Technical University (Irkutsk, Russia) (n = 235: females - n = 78, males - n = 157: 19-20 years old) participated in the study. The daily pedometry of students for 7 days was studied. The number of daily steps was recorded by Simple Design Ltd application for smartphones. The sigma deviation method was used to develop an individual daily pedometry estimation scale. The daily pedometry scale was developed based on the distribution of this characteristic by 5 sigma classes ("low", "below average", "average", "above average", "high"). Students' life quality was studied using a Russian-language version of SF-36 (Short Form Health Survey). The survey presents the characteristics of physical (PH), mental (MH) and general (GH) health. The answers were estimated in points (0-100). Results. Most students have an "average" level of step locomotions. 10% of males and about 8% of females have "above average" or "high" pedometry level. This group of students is actively engaged in sports activities. 4.8% of males and 7.5% of females have a "low" pedometry level. In this group of students, motor activity is limited only by locomotions related to educational and household activities. Students with "high" and "above average" pedometry levels have the highest values of life quality indicators. Such students are in a safe zone of non-communicable diseases. The “low” level of daily step locomotions is considered as a predictor of insufficient physical activity, low general and mental health of students. Conclusions. The sigma deviation method allows distributing any population of people by the number of daily locomotions into five sigma classes. The level of daily step locomotions can be considered as a marker of physical activity, general and mental health. This approach makes it possible to refer a person to a safe health zone or a risk group of non-communicable diseases. The results of the study can be used in the recommendations for improving the students’ life quality. It is also recommended to use our recommendations to increase students' self-motor activity during their university studies.
