Objective: Transcranial magnetic stimulation has been increasingly used for the treatment of many psychiatric disorders and it has been approved as therapeutic intervention in many countries around the world. Therefore our aim for this study is to review the most important TMS applications that aim the treatment of psychiatric disorders and their level of recommendation by European experts, US-Food and Drug Administration and other national agencies around the world. Conclusion: TMS can be used as a treatment option for psychiatric disorders such as treatment resistant major depressive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PSTD), schizophrenia (auditory hallucinations, negative symptoms), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and nicotine craving and dependence.
The purpose of the retrospective study was to evaluate the distribution of enterococci in the hospital departments, the infections produced by these germs and the phenotypes of resistance to antibiotics in the studied cases. The study group included 2369 Enterococcus spp. strains isolated between 2014 and 2018 in patients hospitalized in the Clinical Emergency Hospital of Brasov. Higher isolation frequencies were recorded in General Surgery (17.48%), Intensive Care Unit (15.49%), Plastic Surgery (14.61%), and Urology (14.39%). Enterococci were more commonly involved in urinary infections (34.11%) and wound infections (31.53%). Higher levels of acquired resistance were observed from fluoroquinolones (norfloxacin-68.33%, ciprofloxacin-46%, levofloxacin-45.04%).
The studied group included 6020 gram negative bacilli isolated from various biological products from patients admitted to the County Clinical Emergency Hospital of Brasov between 1.01.2017 and 31.12.2018. The study was retrospective and aimed to dynamically evaluate the sensitivity to carbapenems of germs involved in infections with various locations. Most from isolated Escherichia coli strains were sensitive to antibiotics from various classes tested and the sensitivity to carbapenems was 100%. Other Enterobacteriaceae had variable resistance levels to antibiotics in various classes, which supports the need for antibiogram to optimize the therapy with antibiotics. During the study, there were isolated carbapenemresistant strains of Klebsiella spp., Acinetobacter spp., and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Objective: Myopia evolution and the influence of its risk factors in a group of students between 18 and 35 years old. Methods: Cross-sectional analytical-descriptive study conducted through an online questionnaire. Results: The results reveal a myopia onset between 4 and 27 years. The incidence of myopia was found more frequently in women (89%). In the myopic group, 64% of respondents perform a routine check every year, while 58% of non-myopic person require an examination every three years. Most young people spend more than 5 hours a day using a gadget. A small number of myopic person (17%) read 1-2 hours a day, most of them (47%) spend 5 hours or more studying, a reverse situation being seen in non-myopic group; data close to the results of the researched field studies. The time spent outdoors for myopic and non-myopic is sensitively equal. Conclusions: Age, gender, the number of hours spent reading or using a computer / mobile phone, reduced outdoor time are factors that have been identified as possible causes of myopia's onset and progression by acting either individually or combined.
