■ Im Fokus des Beitrags steht die Fragestellung, ob der Einsatz von Internettechnologien im Supply Chain Management einen kritischen Erfolgsfaktor oder lediglich einen "unkritischen" Enabler darstellt. Ausgangspunkt bildet der revolutionäre Fortschritt, den Internettechnologien zur unternehmensübergreifenden Integration gegenüber klassischen IT-Lösungen leisten. ■ Nach der terminologischen Abgrenzung und Begriffsdefinition folgt ein Überblick zum aktuellen Forschungsstand, der die praktische und wissenschaftliche Relevanz der Fragestellung bestätigt. Basierend auf den Erkenntnissen der Transaktionskostentheorie und des Resource-based View, der einschlägigen Literatur sowie Experteninterviews in Deutschland und am MIT in Amerika werden die wesentlichen Determinanten (Kernprozesse, Erfolg und situative Variablen) des internetbasierten Supply Chain Management-Modells konzeptionalisiert, operationalisiert und entsprechende Hypothesen abgeleitet. ■ Die empirische Überprüfung erfolgt auf Basis einer branchenübergreifenden, schriftlichen Befragung mit knapp 350 Rückläufen und wird kausalanalytisch mit Hilfe von PLS (Partial Least Squares) ausgewertet. Im Ergebnis zeigt sich, dass das internetbasiertes Supply Chain Management eine stark positive Wirkung auf den Supply Chain Management-Erfolg ausübt, diese Wirkungsbeziehung jedoch maßgeblich von situativen Variablen (wie z. B. Vertrauen zu den Supply Chain Partnern oder Ausmaß der unternehmensübergreifenden Geschäftsprozessintegration) beeinflusst wird. Aus den Ergebnissen werden Schlussfolgerungen für die wissenschaftliche Forschung und die Praxis abgeleitet. 911
