As pequenas propriedades rurais, em sua maioria, são carentes de gestão por meio de sistemas de informação. Assim, este estudo teve como objetivo apresentar o processo de seleção e implantação de um sistema de gestão capaz de gerenciar as áreas e atividades das pequenas propriedades rurais. Para isso foi realizado um estudo de caso em uma pequena propriedade familiar, produtora de frutas. O artigo detalha as etapas necessárias para implantação: identificação dos requisitos de negócio, busca de sistemas de gestão que atendessem esses requisitos, a avaliação de programas comerciais, a seleção do software, implantação e avaliação dos resultados. Entende-se que a descrição dessas etapas pode auxiliar outras propriedades, considerando suas particularidades, a implantarem sistemas computacionais de gestão. Na propriedade analisada neste estudo de caso verificou-se maior sustentabilidade econômica e segurança na tomada de decisão devido ao poder de negociação baseado nos dados. Ainda, a valorização do papel de cada membro da família na gestão do negócio motivou os jovens a se dedicarem à propriedade.
