The training and accreditation section of the Third National Conference for Counseling Psychology addressed the following issues: (a) models of training and curriculum, (b) context of training, (c) cultural diversity, (d) identity and accreditation, (e) practicum and internship, and (f) career development and employment. This report presents the major components of these discussions and summarizes the deliberations and recommendations of the participants. Many of the principles articulated at the Northwestern and Greyston conferences are reaffirmed. The role, criteria, and purposes of APA accreditation are endorsed. The division leadership is encouraged to promote counseling psychology and the career development of counseling psychologists.
MPD thrusters have demonstrated between 2000 and 7000 seconds specific impulse at efficiencies approaching 40 96, and have been operated continuously at power levels over 500 kW. These demonstrated capabilities, combined with the simplicity and robustness of the thruster, make them attractive candidates for application to both unmanned and manned orbit raising, lunar, and planetary missions. To date, however, only a limited number of thruster confiurations, propellants, and operating conditions have been studied. This work reviews the present status of MPD thruster research, including developments in the measured performance levels and electrode erosion rates, and theoretical studies of the thruster dynamics. Significant progress has been made in establishing empirical scaling laws, performance and lifetime limitations and in the development of numerical codes to simulate the flow field and electrode processes.
Counseling psychology began to emerge as a distinct specialty following World War I1 when it became a charter division of the reorganized American Psychological Association (APA). Counseling psychology began its official association in the reorganized APA as the Division of Counseling and Guidance, reflecting its roots and interests not only in psychology but also in education. Throughout its history counseling psychology has maintained interests in normal development, prevention, resting, vocational counseling, and group and individual personal counseling and psychotherapy. Throughout these changes, counseling psychologists have tried to approach their work from 9
