The implantation of sirolimus-coated BX Velocity stents is feasible and safe and elicits minimal neointimal proliferation. Additional placebo-controlled trials are required to confirm these promising results.
Late-acquired ISA was observed in 5.1% of patients after DES implantation and is related to regional vessel positive remodelling. The relationship between late-acquired ISA and long-term adverse outcomes (e.g. stent thrombosis) requires further analysis.
Intravascular ultrasound assessment late after the ASO revealed proximal eccentric intimal thickening in most of the studied vessels. This observation suggests the development of early atherosclerosis in the reimplanted coronary arteries, which may have a role in the genesis of late coronary events.
The novel VESTAsync-eluting stent was effective in reducing LL and neointimal hyperplasia at 4 and 9 months, with no evidence of late catch-up by quantitative coronary angiography or intravascular ultrasound.
In patients with ICDs and refractory VAs, RSD was associated with reduced arrhythmic burden with no procedure-related complications. Randomized controlled trials investigating RSD for treatment of refractory VAs in patients with increased sympathetic activity are needed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
