El presente artículo, desarrollado en medio de un contexto de movilizaciones sociales nacionales y reformas globales, buscó develar las principales concepciones sobre la docencia que aparecen y se promueven a través del nuevo marco regulatorio del sistema escolar chileno. Para ello, se utilizó la metodología de análisis crítico del discurso, con la finalidad de identificar las concepciones históricas más recurrentes e interpretar cómo se posiciona a los/as docentes dentro del proceso educativo. La muestra fue elegida de manera intencional y consistió en cuatro leyes educativas chilenas y documentos asociados promulgadas entre los años 2008 y 2011. Los resultados más importantes refieren a que las leyes contienen un discurso empresarial que desplaza el educacional a la hora de referirse al sistema educativo. Así, se buscan transformar discursivamente los roles y concepciones docentes tradicionales, siendo reducida la docencia a tareas y habilidades técnicas constantemente estandarizadas y evaluadas. Sumado a esto, se les posiciona en un rol pasivo de participación e influencia en el proceso educativo de los estudiantes, donde los saberes pedagógicos son desplazados por los saberes de gestión.
