Los albores del siglo XXI han generado varias encrucijadas en el ámbito político, económico, social, tecnológico e incluso académico; de ahí que en América Latina se viva una lucha de poderes basada en intereses partidistas y su consecuente alejamiento de una objetiva visión de futuro para el desarrollo y consolidación de una sociedad que aspira impulsar su situación laboral y los preceptos de fortalecer una generación de emprendedores, que por obvias razones podrían abrir el camino necesario para el impulso empresarial. Las estrategias propuestas en los planes de gobierno de los países de la región han sido replanteadas luego de la presencia del Covid-19, buscando repotenciar sus procesos políticos y económicos frente a elevados niveles de endeudamiento externo, presiones inflacionarias, incremento de la delincuencia organizada y la posibilidad de establecer nexos con economías del primer mundo. Parte del análisis refleja que para el 2023 el panorama para la región no es muy alentador; sin embargo, cada país cuenta con su propio manejo político-económico con base en una realidad que se asemeja en los altos niveles de inflación, acelerada crisis migratoria, incremento de la violencia, desarticulación política y aumento de la extrema pobreza. Todo esto, frente a limitados planes de desarrollo social que en el corto o mediano plazo puedan dar las orientaciones mínimas necesarias para que el complejo momento por el que atraviesan, permita instaurar planes sobre la base de estrategias de madurez social y política.
El desarrollo de la pandemia causada por la covid-19 a nivel global ha obligado a introducir nuevos enfoques en el manejo de los procesos organizacionales, lo cual ha transformado empresas, gobiernos e incluso la vida cotidiana, con consecuencias sin precedentes en Ecuador y el mundo. En el ámbito laboral se presentó una crisis de sostenibilidad, donde muchas empresas optaron por reducir el número de empleados o por disminuir la carga de trabajo, con la consecuente reducción salarial. Si bien estos cambios suponen nuevas opciones laborales, productivas y comerciales, también surgen necesidades apremiantes producto de las reestructuraciones de cada sistema empresarial.
