AbstractRelationship between positive and negative affects and the big five. The present research shows the correlations analyses result between positive and negative affects and the big five. Contributed to the development of study 529 students from public and private high schools, aged between 14 and 27 years (M = 16.0; SD = 1.48). About the gender 223 (42.2%) were males and 306 (57.8%) were females. The instruments used were the 'Escala de Afetos Zanon (EAZ)' and the 'Bateria Fatorial de Personalidade (BFP)'. About the results, the relation between the neuroticism factor and the negative affect was the stronger coefficient (r = 0,62). The positive affect, showed a stronger correlation with the extroversion factor (r = 0,42). It was found that neuroticism is the best predictor of negative affect, while extroversion of positive affect. The findings are discussed in the literature context. La presente investigación presenta el resultado del análisis correlacional entre afectos positivos y negativos y los factores de personalidad, sobre la perspectiva del modelo de los Cinco Grandes Factores. Colaboraron para el desarrollo del estudio 529 estudiantes de Enseñanza Secundaria de escuelas públicas y privadas, con edades entre 14 y 27 años (M = 16,0; DT = 1,48). En relación al sexo, 223 (42,2%) eran hombres y 306 (57,8%) mujeres. Fueron aplicadas la Escala de Afectos Zanon (EAZ) y la Batería Factorial de Personalidad (BFP). Entre los resultados, el coeficiente más fuerte fue entre el factor neuroticismo y los afectos negativos (r = 0,62). En relación a los afectos positivos, la mayor correlación se dio con el factor extraversión (r = 0,42). Se verificó que el neuroticismo es el que mejor predice los afectos negativos, mientras que la extraversión predice mejor los afectos positivos. The objective of this study was to determine which Character Strengths can be predicted by Personality traits using the instruments Forças de Caráter (Character Strengths Scale) and Bateria Fatorial de Personalidade (Factor Personality Questionnaire). A total of 217 university students, with an average age of 22 years participated in this study; 53% were female. The results indicated that the strengths Vitality, Gratitude, Persistence, Spirituality, Kindness, Humor, Social Intelligence, Citizenship, Fairness, and Creativity were best explained by the traits Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Moreover, Extraversion and Agreeableness were the traits that were most often associated with the Character Strengths. The findings were discussed in the light of relevant literature, and further studies were recommended.Keywords: Evaluation; Personality; Positive psychology. ResumoAuxiliar o jovem na compreensão das difi culdades da indecisão profi ssional para que ele realize uma escolha madura e bem ajustada é um importante objetivo da Orientação Profi ssional (OP). O presente trabalho pretendeu relacionar indecisão profi ssional e otimismo em jovens aprendizes e estudantes do Ensino Médio/Técnico. Participaram 250 jovens que frequentam cursos de ensino técnico-profi ssional, concomitantemente (Grupo 1) ou não com (Grupo 2), o Ensino Médio. Os instrumentos utilizados foram Inventário de Levantamento das Difi culdades da Decisão Profi ssional (IDDP) e Revised Life Orientation Test Brasil (LOT-R Brasil). Foram observadas correlações negativas de baixa magnitude entre os fatores referentes à indecisão profi ssional e otimismo. Os grupos de diferenciaram em relação a três fatores do IDDP, sendo que o Grupo 2 obteve médias maiores para esses resultados. Em relação ao sexo, os homens tiveram maior média que as mulheres para dois fatores do IDDP, mostrando tendência a maiores difi culdades no processo de decisão por uma profi ssão. Os resultados demonstraram que os índices de otimismo foram maiores que os de pessimismo, e que a indecisão profi ssional está mais presente em indivíduos pessimistas, sugerindo que indivíduos mais seguros estão mais preparados para realizar a escolha por uma profi ssão. This paper intended to relate vocational indecision and optimism in young learners and students of high school/Technical. r e s u M e n A fin de responder a la pregunta ¿Qué está bien en las personas?, la psicología positiva estudia las cualidades humanas y la promoción de su funcionamiento positivo, en particular, los afectos positivos y negativos que aluden al resultado de la intensidad y frecuencia de las emociones vivenciadas. Con el objetivo de medir los afectos en dominios específicos, a saber: yo, familia, amigos y trabajo/finanzas, el presente estudio utilizó la Escala de Afectos Zanon en una versión modificada a la que se le hizo una adaptación en su instrucción, para verificar posibles diferencias en las medidas de los afectos. Participaron de la investigación 142 personas, con edades entre 15 y 87 años, con 7.74 de nota promedio para la vida en general. Entre los principales resultados, fueron identificadas diferencias significativas entre los sexos para afectos negativos y afectos positivos y, en relación con la edad, para los afectos negativos respecto del trabajo. Positive Psychology aims to study the human qualities as well as promoting their positive functioning. The positive and negative affect are studied by the proposed approach and refer to the result of the intensity and frequency of experienced emotions. With the aim of measuring the affects in specific areas, namely 'I', 'Family', 'Friends' and 'Work / Finance', this study used the modified Zanon Scale Affects to detect differences in measures of affect. Participants were in the number of 142 people between 15 and 87 years old, with 7.74 average grade assigned for life in general. Among the main results, significant differences were found between genders for negative affect and positive affect, and with respect to age, there was a statistically significant negative affect toward work.
