Descritores: Tracoma/história; Conjuntivite crônica; Cegueira; Brasil ABSTRACTTrachoma is a disease known thousand years ago and still as a potential blindness disease all over the world. The authors call attention to the factors related with the transmission, present historical data and distribution of the disease in Brazil and in the world, comment on the agent, the signs and symptoms of this chronic conjunctivitis. Still, reinforce the need to enable professionals for the diagnosis, detection and treatment. The reflection of these attitudes will be the contribution to the elimination of this important disease as a blindness cause among us.
The members of Ojoplast adopt massage as the initial treatment for congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction for patients <1 year of age. Probing is performed on patients >1 year of age, and early probing is used only for cases of dilated lacrimal sac. When massage and probing are not effective, intubation is performed, and if intubation is unsuccessful, dacryocystorhinostomy is performed, in which the external approach to dacryocystorhinostomy is used most often.
PP implants showed lower chance of exposure than bioceramic implant for anophthalmic socket reconstruction, although we cannot rule out the possibility of heterogeneity bias due to the nature and level of evidence of the included studies. Clinical trials are necessary to expand the knowledge of porous and nonporous orbital implants in the anophthalmic socket management.
ABSTRACT Purpose: To evaluate the sensitivity of the photoscreener equipment to detect ocular changes in informative children comparing with the data obtained by the E Snellen´s
