Four mdole alkaloids have been Isolated and characterized from the tree bark of Alstoma muellerranu Domm One of these IS the previously known dlmertc mdole alkaloid, vlllalstomne (I) A second probably dunenc mdole alkaloid, alstomsldme (II), and two monomeric mdole alkaloids, alstomsme (III) and alstonerme (IV) are also described
butanol-benzene azeotrope (SO ml) was slowly added and the solvents \\.ere then evaporated off. The residue was extracted with petrol (200 ml, 40-60" boiling range) and gave a green solution which, upon evaporation and drying, left a violet solitl (1.32 g). Found: V, 16.1, 16.3; valency, 5.0.
