Kondisi inilah memicu timbulnya stressor psikologis dan psikososial terhadap pemeliharaan status kesehatan. Data penelitian menunjukkan penderita diabetes sering menjadi putus asa dalam mengendalikan komplikasi yang timbul dari penyakit tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterkaitan hubungan antara penerimaan diri dengan tingkat stress pada lansia penderita diabetes mellitus di Kota Jambi. Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan desain crossectional. Sampel penelitian adalah lansia penderita diabetes dengan komplikasi. Terdapat 77 responden terlibat yang dipilih dengan secara accidental sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui proses wawancara dengan menggunakan kuesioner Berger's self-acceptence dan dianalisis menggunakan uji Spearman's Rank test. Sebagian besar responden adalah perempuan yang menderita diabetes mellitus dengan rentang usia 45-60 tahun mempunyai kategori penerimaan diri yang kurang baik. Terlihat adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara penerimaan diri dengan tingkat stres pada lansia penderita diabetes mellitus di Kota Jambi. Penerimaan diri yang negatif mempengaruhi tingkat stres yang dialami penderita selama sakit. Dengan demikian, perlu pengembangan program penatalaksanaan stres akibat komplikasi diabetes dalam memperbaiki kesehatan psikologis.
