Este artículo pretende analizar la iniciativa teórica de Chantal Mouffe de resignificar “lo político” frente a la racionalidad política consensual sostenida por la tradición liberal. Tal perspectiva debe encarar el desafío de una readecuación democrática consolidada por y para el pluralismo de identidades políticas. Para este fin, se trae a escena el conocido binomio amigo/enemigo de Carl Schmitt para considerar su transformación en otro binomio: nosotros/ellos, en el marco del objetivo de pasar del antagonismo al agonismo. Serán consideradas sus consecuencias en contraste con un escenario marcado por la creciente moralización de los discursos políticos. Moralización que no hace más que ocultar la falta de debates políticos profundos ante manifestaciones populares que realizan diferentes demandas democráticas.
