The article describes a project funded by a state grant and implemented at Southeastern Louisiana University. Project Inclusion provided financial support for general educators willing to participate in three university credit courses to acquire information and strategies for teaching students with disabilities. The three courses included instruction in collaboration techniques, curricular modifications, and behavior management strategies. In addition to increasing knowledge in special education issues and practices, the data indicated an increase in an accepting attitude toward inclusion and a willingness to collaborate with other professionals.
Augmented reality (AR) is technology that combines virtual reality with the real world in the form of live video imagery that is digitally enhanced with computer-generated graphics (Perdue, 2017). Augmented reality was used in a graduate level distance education course offered in the summer of 2017 to foster interaction. Students enrolled in the course had an opportunity to download and create augmented reality assignments to become familiar with the use of this technology as another tool to communicate and collaborate in online settings. Findings included primarily positive student attitudes regarding the use of AR in the online classroom.
English This study was undertaken to examine similarities and differences in the rankings of values by selected elementary and secondary teachers residing in a southern region of the USA and in Western Australia. The values ranked were those described in the Rokeach value survey (RVS). Based on the study findings, it was concluded that Australian teachers and American teachers hold similar democratic value systems in terms of their top five values but vary in several of the values as identified by Rokeach. Possible reasons for these differences are discussed.
