Permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat Kecamatan Tanjung Batu, Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, Sumatera Selatan adalah 1) banyak terdapat tumpukan sampah dan limbah rumah tangga; dan 2) panjang nya rantai distribusi atas pemasaran produk kreatif masyarakat Tanjung Batu. Maka dilaksanakan program KKN yang difokuskan pada peningkatan pengetahuan di bidang kewirausahaan, pemasaran dan pupuk organik. Program ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan limbah rumah tangga dan memutus rantai distribusi produk kreatif masyarakat Tanjung Batu. Metode pelaksanaan program KKN meliputi: teori dan pelatihan kewirausahaan, pemasaran dan pupuk organik. Dampak dari kegiatan KKN ini adalah : 1) masyarakat menjadi lebih termotivasi untuk menjadi seorang wirausaha dan tidak memandang bahwa wirausaha adalah sebuah pekerjaan yang rendah; 2) peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam memasarkan produk kreatif nya dan dapat memutus rantai distribusi sehingga pendapatan atas penjualan produk menjadi lebih besar; 3) masyarakat dapat memahami pentingnya menjaga lingkungan dengan tidak membuah sampah sembarangan dan memanfaatkan serta mengolah sampah dan limbah rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organik yang dapat tetap menjaga kesuburan tanah dan memangkas input atas pembelian pupuk kimia.
The concepts of local wisdom inherited through folklores and children literature are the strategies to transform the values considered important to learn by children through textbooks. Therefore, children literature should be meaningful and highly relevant to the empowerment of the children’s life according to the stage of their development. This study questions how to write children’s literature with the theme of local wisdom based on character education. Based on the problem, the study aims to produce children literature with the theme of local wisdom, which is based on character education and according to the children’s development. There are three stages of children literature: emotional, intellectual, and personal development. The study belongs to descriptive qualitative research, employing Brady’s theory on children development and Rampan’s on the technique of writing children literature. Library research and creative process are used in the method. The study generates three models of folklore with the theme of local wisdom according to the children development: Putri Emas dan Burung Ajaib, Putri Cantik dari Pulau Bintan, and Sang Pembangkang. Besides, it also produces three literary works based on character education: “Lalang dan Kupu-Kupu yang Menawan,” “Gara-gara Ketinggalan Bekal,” and “Surti, Mawar, and Kupu-kupu.”
Salah satu permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat Kelurahan Baran,Kecamatan Ambarawa, Kabupaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah adalah kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya PHBS. Maka program KKN UAD difokuskan pada kebersihan lingkungan. Program ini bertujuan memberdayakan masyarakat Ambarawa dalam program Peduli Lingkungan. Metode pelaksanaan program KKN meliputi: pendidikan masyarakat, difusi teknologi dan praktek langsung. Dampak dari kegiatan KKN ini adalah: 1) tercipta kesadaran masyarakat sasaran tentang pentingnya PHBS, 2) peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dalam mengolah sampah, 3) peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang Demam Berdarah dan bahaya BABs,4) masyarakat terampil membuat karya kreatif dari plastik bekas.
Salah satu permasalahan di masyarakat yang ada di Kecamatan Payaraman Kabupaten OganIlir, Sumatera Selatan ialah 1) Kurangnya kreativitas masyarakat dalam hal pengemasan makanan.2) Kurangnya pengetahuan dalam mengembangkan produk yang ada. 3) Kurangnya pengetahuandalam hal pemasaran makanan. Padahal masyarakat mempunyai potensi untuk menghasilkanmakanan khas dari bahan dasar singkong yang seharusnya bisa dipasarkan, namun masyarakatmempunyai keterbatasan pendidikan dan kreativitas dalam pengemasan makan produknya. Makadari itu dibuat program kreativitas dalam mengemas makanan. Agar masyarakat bisa memasarkanhasil potensi desa dengan baik dan bisa menambah penghasilan. Metode yang dipakai dalamkegiatan inovasi pengemasan makanan yaitu 1) dengan mengadakan penyuluhan kewirausahaan dan2) dengan pelatihan pengemasan makanan. Dampak program kegiatan ini adalah 1) Mampumengangkat perekonomian desa atau kecamatan. 2) Mampu menambah pendapatan perkapita untuksetiap keluarga. 3) Meningkatkan kesejakterahan perekonomian. 4) Mampu menjualkan produk keluar Kecamatan.
Appropriate texts for children may contribute to support their self-development in many aspects. Text selection should consider cultural values, for children do not grow up in an empty culture environment. Children's literature are mostly the creation of men of letters. Thus, do teachers or lecturers need to participate in creating more works for children? Based on the problem, this study aims at developing a model of children's literature that is adjusted to their development stages. The research belongs to descriptive qualitative research, employing Brady's theory on children developmental stages and Corry Layun Rampan's writing techniques for children's literature. It also uses literature review and creative process. The results are a work of children's literature entitled "Rambut Keriting Surti." The work can be further used as a reading model for elementary school students, at the age group of 10-12 years old. The story was written by considering the children's development stages, particularly emotional, intellectual, and personal development. Keywords-children's literature; children development; story model. I. INTRODUCTION Children literature is always an interesting subject, especially those that are related to the reading materials. Children literature influences the growth and character development of the children. Edwards (2004) proposes that appropriate literary text contributes to develop children"s characters. Thus, the process of selecting the text should consider cultural factor because children grow and learn in a cultural vacuum. Culture, in this context, includes customs, verbal and non-verbal behavior, and others as demonstrated by the family members or the environment. Riris K. Toha Sarumpaet (2003) explains that children literature, which includes children stories, means literary work that are written for children, that talks about children and the influential factors around them, and that can be enjoyed only by children with the help and assistance of the adults. In line with the idea, Nurgiyantoro (2005) suggests that children literature is a work that represents the emotion and experience of the children through the children"s point of view. Children literature may cover poems, prose, play, that are created through imagination using the language as the media. It reflects the imaginary world, yet containing aesthetic values (Resmini, 2006). Recent works for children can easily found in the bookstores. Nowadays parents are eager to buy books for their children. However, can the text quench their thirst, or are suitable with their developmental stage? Do a teacher or a lecturer need to write children"s literature? The two questions need to be answer. Teachers hold the responsibility of selecting reading materials for the children at school.
