Las maloclusiones son alteraciones bucodentales de etiología múltiple. De acuerdo con la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) ocupan el tercer lugar de prevalencia dentro de los problemas de salud bucodental, lo que hace que sean de gran importancia. Estas no solo van a afectar la funcionalidad bucal y la estética de las personas, sino también van a tener influencia en el aspecto psicosocial, trayendo consigo un impacto negativo en su calidad de vida. La presente revisión se realiza con el objetivo de brindar información actualizada en torno a esta problemática y sus implicancias sobre los entornos de la persona.
Objetivos: Evaluar las características del incisivo superior con el incisivo inferior, ver su angulación 130° (+/-6°) y relacionarlo con el tipo de clase esquelética antero posterior. Observar si existe una relación del ángulo interincisivo con el tipo de clase esquelética antero-posterior. Material y métodos: Se utilizaron como metodología, los análisis cefalométrico de Steiner y Ricketts por ser de suma importancia para el diagnóstico y plan de tratamiento para el especialista en ortodoncia ortopedia maxilar. Por tener mayor nitidez y buen contraste en comparación con las analógicas y así poder localizar los puntos cefalométricos más importantes se examinaron 60 radiografías laterales de cráneo digitales; estas fueron tomadas a pacientes de la segunda Especialidad de Ortodoncia y Ortopedia Maxilar de la Universidad Católica Santa María (UCSM) entre las edades de 12 a 16 años con presencia de los incisivos centrales superiores e inferiores. Los datos fueron obtenidos mediante trazados en papel de acetato de acuerdo a los puntos cefalométricos más importantes, los datos angulares y lineales obtenidos se recopilaron en una cha de registro de datos. Resultados: Se presentó una mayor cantidad de pacientes con un ángulo interincisivo disminuido menor a la norma, y una mayor frecuencia de clase II esqueletal mayor a la norma, la gran mayoría fueron del género femenino que acudieron a la Segunda Especialidad de Ortodoncia y Ortopedia Maxilar, En menor incidencia el ángulo interincisivo aumentado y normal y la clase esquelética III y I. Conclusiones: Los pacientes que presentaron con mayor frecuencia una relación del ángulo interincisivo con el tipo de clase esquelética antero-posterior fueron los que estaban comprendidos entre 12 y 16 años de edad.
Key Words:Reporte de Caso INTRODUCCIÓN L a odontología forense, es una ciencia que está al servicio de la justicia, para poder resolver problemas al momento de la identificación humana, ya sea que se trate de una víctima o de un agresor. Debemos tener presente que los dientes también pueden usarse como un instrumento de defensa o agresión. Las huellas por mordedura son lesiones producidas al presionar los dientes en distintas partes del cuerpo, estas lesiones generalmente suelen ser contusas o inciso-contusas, pudiendo ir acompañadas en algunos casos de desprendimiento de tejido. Las mordeduras por humanos generalmente son lesiones intencionales, y están relacionadas con las siguientes casos delictivos: Riñas: son mordeduras como arma de ataque y están localizadas en nariz, orejas, mejillas, labios, y espalda, y como arma de defensa en las manos. Delitos sexuales: su localización de estas mordeduras, se encuentran en, mamas, muslos, glúteos, espalda, brazos, hombros, clítoris y pene. Niño maltratado: estas lesiones se encuentran ocultas y suelen localizarse en tórax, abdomen, espalda y glúteos. Si bien son importantes para la criminalística y odontología forense, las huellas de mordedura humana también pue¬den proveer información adicional según el contexto en el que se causó la lesión.(2) La importancia de las huellas de mordedura en las ciencias forenses radica en su potencial como elemento probatorio de una acción criminal, como también en su calidad como elemento identificatorio; para la identificación de mordeduras humanas es indispensable el trabajo de la odontología forense. Estas singulares huellas presentan características bien definidas y diferentes clasificaciones según los autores que se han dedicado a su estudio. La Medicina en la Estomatología cada día cobra más importancia, debido a que existen innumerables número de enfermedades sistémicas que dan signos y síntomas a nivel de la cavidad bucal, y esto s irve a los especialistas en la odontología a poder reconocer diferentes enfermedades a través de sus manifestaciones que se presentan en boca. Objetivo: Caracterizar las lesiones bucales presentes en un paciente con diagnóstico médico de anorexia y bulimia Material: para la exploración, se utilizó material de inspección bucal pinza, espejo, explorador, paletas estériles, gaza estéril, cámara fotográfica de 16 pixeles. Método: Fue evaluado bucalmente un paciente con diagnóstico de anorexia y bulimia en un periodo de 4 meses de julio a octubre del 2014) L as lesiones bucales observadas fueron descritas clínicamente y su diagnósticomédico confirmo dicha enfermedad. Resultados: paciente con anorexia y bulimia de sexo femenino 23 años de edad, con presencia de sequedad bucal, xerostomía, erosión de esmalte y caries dental en zona gingival, mucosa labial escamativa con presencia de grietas sangrantes al tacto, lesiones tipo aftas herpéticas en la zona del paladar y labio superior, además de queilitis angular a consecuencia d e la enfermedad sistémica, Conclusiones: La enfermedad sistémica anorexia y bulimia en muchas ocasiones afecta la zona de la cavidad bucal, presentando lesiones en labios, queilitis angular, erosión del esmalte dental con sensación de dolor, presencia de caries en zona gingival de diversas piezas dentarias, dolor en las zonas blandas afectadas e inflamación.
El presente estudio busco identificar la percepción de los profesionales con respecto a la manipulación y funcionalidad del sistema de restauración cerana; al ser empleado en incrustaciones dentales directas. Método: se contó con la participación de 20 pacientes adultos, de los cuales 10 necesitaban restauraciones clase I, y los otros 10 de clase II; a cada uno de los pacientes se le realizo el tratamiento con material cerámico directo con relleno de zirconia.
