Introdução: A disfagia é uma complicação comum do acidente vascular encefálico, podendo levar a um aumento da incidência de pneumonia aspirativa. Como possível modalidade de tratamento, a estimulação transcraniana por corrente contínua é uma tecnologia de estimulação cerebral não invasiva, usada como tratamento de intervenção não medicamentosa para algumas doenças neurológicas ou mentais devido à sua não invasão, segurança e portabilidade. Objetivos: Identificar os efeitos da estimulação transcraniana por corrente sanguínea em pacientes com disfagia após acidente vascular encefálico. Metodologia: Estudo de revisão integrativa realizado nas seguintes bases de dados: Scientific Eletronic Libray Online (SciELO), Scopus, Nacional Institute of Medicine (NIH-PUBMED) e Web of Science. A busca na literatura foi organizada pelos seguintes descritores: “transcranial direct current stimulation”, “TDCS”, “dysphagia”, “post-stroke dysphagia” e “stroke”. Foram incluídos artigos em inglês, espanhol ou português, publicados entre 2016 e 2021 e cujos participantes eram todos pacientes com acidente vascular encefálico confirmado por tomografia computadorizada ou ressonância magnética. A busca encontrou inicialmente 796 artigos e a leitura de seus resumos levou a seleção de 67, ao qual foram lidos na íntegra totalizando em 11 artigos na amostra final. Resultados: Das 11 publicações analisadas, observou-se maior frequência de publicação do ano 2020 (n: 05) e o país que mais publicou sobre o tema foi os EUA (n: 05), seguido do Reino Unido (n: 03). O tipo de estudo mais frequente foi o ensaio clínico randomizado (n: 09), com nível de evidência II (forte). Verificou-se que no geral, os resultados de todos os estudos incluídos revelaram um tamanho de efeito agrupado estatisticamente significativo a favor da estimulação transcraniana por corrente sanguínea na disfagia pós acidente vascular encefálico. Constatou-se que a terapia foi eficaz para disfagia após acidente vascular encefálico hemisférico unilateral e paralisia bulbar, mas não para disfagia após acidente vascular encefálico atáxico e nos gânglios da base. Conclusões: Esta revisão possibilitou identificar que a estimulação transcraniana por corrente sanguínea apresentou efeitos benéficos entre pacientes com disfagia após acidente vascular encefálico. Porém, mais estudos multicêntricos e com maiores desfechos clinicamente relevantes são necessários para uma avaliação final de sua respectiva eficácia.
