Analisamos, neste artigo, as atividades desenvolvidas no curso Educação Intercultural, nas dependências do Núcleo Takinahaky de Formação Superior de Professores Indígenas da Universidade Federal de Goiás, localizada na região Centro-Oeste do Brasil, durante o tema contextual Percepção Cultural do Ambiente, em 2018. O texto acompanha o debate proposto pelas epistemologias ecológicas, dada a busca pelo rompimento com concepções forjadas pela racionalidade moderna, ao cristalizar determinados dualismos nas ciências humanas como cultura e natureza, corpo e mente, sujeito e objeto. Discutimos o conceito de epistemologias ecológicas; apresentamos dados demográficos dos povos indígenas no Brasil e tratamos da produção de mapas existenciais e narrativas de origem de estudantes Apinajé, Tapirapé e Xavante, a partir de abordagens que focam a relação de inseparabilidade dos povos indígenas com o ambiente. As narrativas elucidam o crescente protagonismo dos povos indígenas na atualidade, apontando à pertinência da interculturalidade crítica como resposta aos constantes desafios postos aos indígenas e não indígenas à sociedade brasileira.
