Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı Kur’an-ı Kerim mealinde, Kâf suresi 16. ayeti “Andolsun, insanı biz yarattık ve nefsinin ona verdiği vesveseyi de biz biliriz. Çünkü biz, ona şah damarından daha yakınız” şeklinde çevrilmektedir. Ayette geçen “habl-i verîd”, birçok Türkçe mealde de “şah damarı” olarak aktarılmaktadır. “Habl-i verîd” Kur’ân dilinin kullandığı özel bir anlama sahip olması nedeniyle, bazı meal ve tefsirlerde aynen kullanılmakta, bazı meallerde “boyun damarı,” bazılarında “can damarı” gibi anlamlarda Türkçeye çevrilmektedir. Türkçe dışındaki birçok dilde ise tamlama, çoğunlukla günümüz bilim dili olan İngilizce ve tıp dili Latincedeki “jugular ven” olarak veya onun meal dilindeki karşılığı ile çevrilmektedir. Tıbbi terim olan “jugular ven (vein)” Türkçede “boyun toplardamarı” anlamına gelmekte, “şah damarı” ise “karotid/karotis (carotid/carotis) arter” olarak ifade edilmektedir. Türkçe meallerin birçoğu diğer dillerdekinin tersine “habl-i verîd”e “jugular ven” değil, “karotis arter” demekte; yani, diğer dillerin birçoğu “habl-i verîd”e “toplardamar” derken, Türkçe meallerde “atardamar” denilmektedir. Alanyazın taramasından elde edilen bulguların nitel analizine dayanan bu makalede sırasıyla şunlar yapılmıştır: Öncelikle, ayetteki terimin diğer dillerdeki karşılığı sunulmakta; daha sonra tıbbi olarak ayette geçen “habl-i verîd” kelimesinin Türkçe meallerde kullanımının tarihsel örnekleri ve değişimi verilmektedir. Son olarak terim, Arapça, Osmanlıca ve Türkçe anatomi bilgisindeki karşılıklarıyla, bu bilgilerin tahlilleri neticesinde geçmişten gelen yorumuyla birlikte anatomik, fizyolojik ve mana farklılıkları açısından yeniden yorumlanmaktadır.
Bu makalede, Cumhuriyet tarihinin ilk çeyreğinde milli din anlayışı çevresinde uygulamaya konan ve yaklaşık on sekiz yıl devam eden Türkçe ezan denemesinin toplumsal hafızada yarattığı travmaların bir değerlendirmesi yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada bir dini gösterge olarak ezanın önemini vurgulayan kısa girişten sonra ezanın sembolik anlamı üzerinde durulmuş, devamında ise anadilde ibadet tartışmaları ve Türkçe ezan uygulamasının kısa bir tarihçesi verilmiştir. Son olarak yazılı kaynaklar ve tanıklara dayanarak toplumsal hafızada konuya dair yansıyan birikimler sunulmuştur. Müslümanlar için evrensel bir çağrı niteliği olan ezanın millileştirilmesi çabaları, toplumdan en sert direnişi görmüştür. Ezanı Arapça okuyanların hapis ve para cezasına çarptırılmalarına rağmen uygulamada başarıya ulaşılamamış ve yasak 1950 yılında kaldırılmıştır.
Belki Bulgaristan tarihinin tamamında önemli şahsiyetler sıralamasında en başlarda olan Kâhin Vanga, 31 Ocak 1911'de bugün Makedonya sınırları içerisinde, o tarihte Osmanlı toprağı durumundaki Strumitsa kasabasında doğmuştur. Normal bir bebek olarak dünyaya gelmiş ve çok güzel bir kız olan Vanga, hayatının dönüm noktası olan bir olaydan sonra kör kalır. Geçen zamanla birlikte de paranormal güçlere sahip olan Vanga, kâhinlik özelliğiyle zamanla bir dünya fenomeni olmayı başarır. İkinci Dünya Savaşı sırasında Nazi lideri Adolf Hitler tarafından bizzat ziyaret edilen, Rus gizli servisi KGB'nin bile tavsiyeler aldığı Vanga, 1996 yılında 84 yaşındayken vefat eder.Çalışma, giriş ve dört alt başlık ve sonuçtan müteşekkildir. Girişte konunun kapsamı ve önemi ortaya konduktan sonra kaynak değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır. Alt başlıklarda ise sırasıyla, Vanga'nın hayatı, Tanrı tasavvuru, ölüm ve sonrası hakkındaki değerlendirmeleri ve son olarak kötülük problemine yaklaşımı ele alınmıştır. Bulguların özeti ve değerlendirme ise sonuçta yer almaktdır.
