Penyedian tangga sebagai fasilitas menuju obyek pariwisata di perbukitan merupakan hal yang sangat penting, karena dapat mengurangi potensi terjadinya cidera bagi para pengunjung. Di tempat pariwisata Puncak Punthu Ngepok untuk menuju ke beberapa lokasi belum ada tangga naik yang ergonomic, bahkan bebarapa tempat belum dibuatkan tangga untuk naik sehingga perlu dibuatkan rancangan tangga dari beberapa tempat menuju lokasi yang ergonomis. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya energi expenditure yang dikeluarkan pengguna tangga ditiga tempat di pariwisata Puncak Punthu Ngepok Kulon Progo, agar dapat disimpulkan apakah tangga yang digunakan sudah ergonomis atau belum dan juga menentukan ukuran tangga dilihat dari hasil analisa biomekanika. Berdasarkan hasil dari perhitungan besar energy expenditure diketahui bahwa dari tangga pada ketiga tempat tersebut, termaksud katagori moderat sehingga perlu dilakukan analisis biomekanika untuk mencari besar gaya pada L5/S1. Besar gaya pada L5/S1 pada tangga pintu masuk paiwisata 229.92 N, tangga ke Puncak Puntuh Ngepok 333.57 N, sedangkan pada tangga bawah puncak Punthu Ngepok 326.14 N. Kemudian peneliti memilih tangga pintu masuk pariwisata sebagai objek penelitian selanjutnya, karena gaya yang terjadi pada L5/S1 paling kecil. Peneliti melakukan uji trial and error pada tinggi anak tangga dan besar sudut tiap segmen anggota badan, dan didapatkan hasil gaya yang terjadi pada L5/S1, pada penambahan ukuran tinggi anak tangga sebesar 2 cm 267. 40 N, pengurangan 2 cm 305.95 N. Maka dari hasil tersebut dipilih ukuran pada penambhan 2 cm, karena merupakan besaran gaya yang paling kecil pada L5/S1, jadi tinggi anak tangga yang di dapatkan adalah 18.6 cm. Kemudian perhitungan lamanya waktu keja yang didapatkan adalah sebesar 1.9 menit, sedangkan waktu istiahat yang didapatkan adalah 0.83 menit, maka dapat diasumsikan tinggi optrade yang didapatkan adalah 183 cm.
