Wind energy conversion systems (WECS) have developed rapidly in recent years in terms of capacity and wind turbines design. This development led to improve power quality, to reduce the costs and increase the energy yield. WECS are expected to be reliable, effective and more cost-competitive. A comprehensive analysis and review on electrical machines in WECS (viz., wind turbine generators) has been presented in this paper. Design, (dis) advantages, and market penetration of different wind turbine generators are analyzed and discussed. Some comparisons have been made on the permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous machines, promising generator for future wind turbines, especially offshore wind turbines.
In this paper, nonlinear dynamics study of a RLC series circuit modeled by a generalized Van der Pol oscillator is investigated. After establishing a new general class of nonlinear ordinary differential equation, a forced Van der Pol oscillator subjected to an inertial nonlinearity is derived. According to the external excitation strength, harmonic, subharmonic and superharmonic oscillatory states are obtained using the multiple time scales method. Bifurcation diagrams displayed by the model for each system parameter are performed numerically through the fourth-order Runge–Kutta algorithm.
The losses in networks of Beninese Electrical Energy Company (SBEE) are very high and therefore constitute a concern for the operators. This work consisted in finding an optimal topology of a 41 nodes real network of SBEE by Modified Ant Colony Algorithms (MACA) in order to reduce the losses and ensure a continuous power supply to the customers in case of occurrence disturbances on any branch of this network. With technological breakthrough of Automation and Supervision Systems (SCADA), the operation of distribution networks can be ensured remotely in real time with the aim of minimizing losses, eliminating equipment overload and improving reliability. The criteria of technical performance improvement formulated under operating constraints are solved by Modified Ant Colony Algorithm (MACA) which is association of ant system and fuzzy logic on the Matlab platform. The best results obtained show the effectiveness and efficiency of this method. The SBEE's HVA networks can then be reconfigured automatically to significantly improve their continuity of supply and reliability. The improved results obtained after tests on a standard 33-nodes and a real 41 nodes networks show the robustness and accuracy of this MACA algorithm.
Power Electronics converters become nowadays the most important part in Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). They are an intermediate between the generator and grid to achieve low cost, high power density and reliability. This paper deals with the analysis on the topology and control of the most power Electronics Converters for generators using in WECS. Design, (dis)advantages, and market penetration are analyzed and discussed. The control includes maximum power point tracking, dc bus voltage control, balancing of the dc capacitor voltages, and reactive power generation are also analyzed. Simulations have been carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK on the control strategies for the case of back to back converter with Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) demonstrating its good potential to meet the grid connection requirements.

To interconnect sources of production, it is necessary to watch that the technical parameters as tension, frequency and phase shift of the sources of production are equal. In Benin, it is difficult for the company in charge of the production and of the transport of the electricity to interconnect the production coming from Nigeria and that coming from Ghana because all the parameters are not equal. It is thus necessary to find a way to interconnect the sources of productions to satisfy not only the request in electrical energy but also to insure the continuity of the service and the stability of the electricity network [1,2]. In this work, we studied the dynamic behavior of the Voltage Source Converter based High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) system subjected to an important variation of load and commanded by the Sine-triangle Pulse Width Modulation ( SPWM) to improve the quality of the electrical energy. We developed thus first of all the electric model of all the constituents of the system. These models allowed designing easily the control systems of the static converters VSC (the rectifier and the inverter). The simulation of the inverter showed that the rate of distortion of harmonious varied considerably according to the load for important variations of load. The solution brought by this work is the elaboration of a control system to vectorial PWM who improves the rate of distortion of harmonious.
