Es wird die Alkoholyse der Toluohlfonate folgender alicyclischer Alkohole kinetisch und praparativ untersucht : Stereoisomere Formen von 1-Methylcyclohexanol-(2) und -(3), 1.4-Dimethyl-cyclohexanol-(2), I-Isopropyl-und l-Cyclohexyl-cyclohexanol-(2), Menthol, Isomenthol, Neoisomenthol, l-lsopropyl-und l-Cyclopentyl-cyclopentanol-(2), cis-cis-r*-und cis-cis-p-Dekalol, trans-a-Dekalol-Ic.9c.10'. Es wird erortert, inwieweit sich die gefundenen Verhkltnisse der Solvolysekonstanten in Beziehung zur Konfiguration und Konstellation setzen lassen. Dabei wird festgestellt, daO ungeachtet einiger bestehender Zusammenhange die Solvolyse der Toluolsulfonate fur Konstellationsanalysen nicht brauchbar ist, dagegen sich eindeutige Beziehungen zur Konfiguration ergeben. Versuche, die experimentellen Befunde uber Reaktionsgeschwindigkeiten, Aktivierungsenergien und Aktionskonstanten durch teils erganzende, teils andersartige Modellvorstellungen zu deuten, werden unternommen. Substitution und Abspaltung bei der Solvolyse werden analytisch und praparativ eingehend untersucht und die erhaltenen Ergebnisse mit theoretischen Vorstellungen uber Reaktionsmechanismen in Beziehung gesetzt. Es wird auseinandergesetzt, weshalb Konstellationsanalysen auf Grund der Verseifungsgeschwindigkeiten von Carbonsaureestern im allgemeinen wenigstens qualitativ durchfuhrbar sind, aber auf Grund der Solvolyse von Toluolsulfonsaureestern meist versagen.
Die beiden cis-trans-isomeren 3-Isopropyl-cyclopentanole entstehen nebeneinander aus 3-lsopropyl-cyclopentanon nach den verschiedensten Reduktionsverfahren im ungefahren Mol.-Verhaltnis 1 : 1. Ihre Trennung gelingt durch aufeinanderfolgende Kristallisationen von 3.5-Dinitro-benzoat, p-Nitro-und p-Amino-benzoat. In der Solvolysegeschwindigkeit ihrer Tosylate unterscheiden sie sich nur wenig voneinander und vom Tosylat des Cyclopentanols.Wie bei diesem, so wird auch beim 3-lsopropyl-Derivat ganz iiberwiegend Methylather gebildet, und zwar unter WALmNscher Umkehrung. Die Zusammensetzung des nebenher entstehenden Isopropylcyclopentens ist bei beiden Isomeren mit AZ:A3 w I : 1 fast die gleiche. Dagegen ist dieses Verhaltnis bei der Pyrolyse der Acetate mit 83 : 17 bzw. 43 : 57 charakteristisch verschieden, wodurch die Moglichkeit einer Konfigurationszuordnung gegeben erscheint. Anhaltspunkte fur konstellative Verschiedenheiten ergeben sich aus dem chemischen Verhalten nicht; wohl aber weist das IR-Spektrum auf geringfiigige Unterschiede in dieser Richtung. PHYSIKALISCHE EIGENSCHAFTENVon substituierten Cyclopentanolen sind auf physikalische Eigenschaften und Solvolyse ihrer Ester hin bisher nur die 2-Alkyl-Derivate untersucht worden. Die eingehend studierten drei P-Hydrindanole 1) tragen als 3.4-disubstituierte Cyclopentanole einen ankondensierten Sechsring; es darf deshalb von ihnen nicht ohne weiteres auf das Verhalten 3-alkylierter Cyclopentanole geschlossen werden.
Die Methanolyseprodukte der Tosylate von cis-und trans-1-Isopropyl-cyclopentanol-(2) werden erneut analysiert, wobei fruhere Irrtumer richtiggestellt werden. Die Kohlenwasserstoff-Fraktion enthalt kein 1.2-Dimethyl-cyclohexen-(I), sondern nur A'-Isopropylcyclopenten (Hauptprodukt), Isopropylidencyclopentan und, beim cis-Isomeren wenig, beim trans-Isomeren mehr Az-Kohlenwasserstoff. Die Methylather entstehen unter vollstandiger WALDENSCher Umkehrung; auBerdem wird tertiarer Ather gebildet. -Die Methanolyse des Tosylats von 2f.9c. 10C-Decalol gibt bei der Ather-Bildung nahezu vollstandige Konfigurationsumkehrung. Die daneben stattfindende El-Abspaltung ergibt ein anderesverhaltnisvon cis-Al-: Az-Octalinals dieE2-Abspaltung mit Isopropylat.
