We present an application on springback of an anisotropic elastoplastic finite strain model. The computational procedure allows the sole use of internal elastic variables as it is fully hyperelastic. Based on the Lee-type multiplicative decomposition, which permits an additive solution in a logarithmic strain approach, it resolves the "rate issue" by the employment of a corrector rate of elastic strains and its algorithmic implementation [1]. The associative nature and Clausius-Duhem inequality recover the formulation of Simo's isotropic strain-hardening particular case. Its application to metal and soft materials has been corroborated as it is also valid for anisotropic yield functions and for any anisotropic stored energy (linear and nonlinear in logarithmic strains) [2]. The computation of the stress-point algorithm is done using a simple backward-Euler scheme. Its validation has been performed by the implementation of the procedure into a subroutine which allows the user to compute benchmark models in the commercial program ADINA [3]. This permits to explore its usefulness in application for the numerical prediction of springback in thin sheet metal forming processes. The results are compared with both experimental and other authors' results. Moreover, many simulations were performed such as the draw-bending test, the unconstrained bending problem, the square cup or the 3DS warping benchmark.
New trends in earthquake engineering confirm the need of evaluating the buildings vulnerability in urban areas, where, In addition, most of man-made facilities and structures, and world population are concentrated.
Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of the buildings before an earthquake occurs in order to avoid the occurrence of seismic catastrophes, which continue causing great economic losses and an unacceptable number of deaths. This work has been divided into three parts. The first one, contains conceptual and methodological aspects related to the evaluation of the vulnerability and seismic risk of buildings in urban areas. Secondly, we realize a detailed analysis of the seismic behavior of the reinforced concrete frame buildings, typical of the city of Manizales (Colombia), which is located in a high seismic hazard zone. The development and application of new methods and techniques facing to the analysis of vulnerability, fragility and seismic performance of buildings, have clearly indicated the importance of the earthquake-resistant design and construction to reduce the seismic risk. Finally, the third part has been devoted to the seismic risk analysis of Barcelona (Spain). This city is located in a low to moderate seismic hazard area and, their buildings were constructed without any seismic consideration showing a high seismic vulnerability and fragility. The methodologies used in this work, have been considered in a probabilistictic way, allowing us to consider uncertainties both in the seismic action and in buildings material and structural characteristics. We also performed some sensitivity tests which have confirmed the importance of a fine definition of the seismic action, that preferently should be based on real accelerograms recorded in the zone of study. In particular, the results obtained for Manizales show the importance of using seismic spectra compatible with real records. In fact, the response spectra provided by seismic codes are smoothed averages, from many individual seismic actions, which may not be representative for the place where a particular building is analyzed. This high sensitivity of the results to the characteristics of the action has also been clear in the other seismic scenario we have analyzed: Barcelona. The obtained results cleraly show how the damage can be reduced up to one degree, by using very simple seismic protection measures. On the contrary, the absence of seismic memory linked to the unconcern and abandonment of some minima cautions, may increase it up to one degree.
