RESUMEN Se fabricó un acero de composición 0.25C, 1.9Si, 0.63Mn, 1.5Cr utilizando un horno de inducción. La aleación as-cast se homogenizó y se determinaron las temperaturas de inicio (AC1) y finalización (AC3) de la austenita durante el calentamiento mediante dilatometría. Se seleccionaron dos temperaturas de austenización intercrítica, que se utilizaron para realizar tratamientos térmicos de austenización parcial seguidos de tratamiento isotérmico en sales fundidas. Se caracterizaron los aceros tratados térmicamente con microscopia óptica, microscopía electrónica de barrido y difracción de rayos x. Las microestructuras obtenidas fueron multifásicas con ferrita proeutectoide, martensita, bainita y austenita retenida de tamaño nanométrico. Los aceros obtenidos fueron deformados plásticamente por laminación en frio para evaluar la estabilidad de la austenita bajo condiciones de deformación. Se encontró que la fracción de austenita retenida aumentó y su estabilidad bajo condiciones de deformación disminuyó, al disminuir la temperatura de austenización intercrítica. La combinación de austenización intercrítica seguida de austemperado a baja temperatura de una aleación con la composición química adecuada, permitió obtener aceros que combinan la microestructura de los aceros TRIP y NANOBAIN.
RESUMEN Los aceros multifásicos son una familia de materiales con propiedades mecánicas excepcionales que incluyen alta resistencia mecánica, excelente ductilidad e índice de endurecimiento y buena conformabilidad. Estas propiedades están relacionadas con la microestructura, que puede ser desde combinaciones de ferrita y martensita (aceros dúplex) hasta microestructuras complejas con presencia de ferrita, bainita, martensita y austenita retenida como en el caso de los aceros TRIP. Una de las etapas fundamentales en la fabricación de estos aceros es la austenización intercrítica que se produce entre las temperaturas A1 y A3, de la cual depende la fracción de austenita de alta temperatura y la composición química de las fases, en especial el contenido de carbono. Con el fin de estudiar esta etapa del tratamiento térmico se fabricaron aceros con variaciones en la concentración de carbono (0.2-0.5%) y silicio (1.4-2.0%) y se realizaron ensayos dilatométricos. Los resultados permitieron establecer las temperaturas adecuadas de tratamiento térmico intercrítico de acuerdo con la fracción de austenita de alta temperatura deseada. Además, se realizó un estudio de las variaciones en la composición química de la austenita en función de la temperatura de austenización intercrítica (TAI). Los resultados se analizaron a la luz de las posibilidades para las etapas posteriores que incluyen temple o austemperado y su posible impacto en la microestructura y las propiedades mecánicas de las aleaciones tratadas térmicamente.
RESUMEN En este trabajo fue evaluado el efecto del uso de acetileno como fuente de carbono en la carburización gaseosa del acero AISI/SAE 8620. Para esto se diseñó y fabricó un sistema de carburización gaseosa con las siguientes características: producción controlada de una atmósfera gaseosa carburante, zona de reacción isotérmica inerte y hermética y sonda de carbono/oxígeno para el control del potencial de carbono (Cp) durante el ciclo de carburización. Se utilizó una atmósfera compuesta por un gas endotérmico sintético de composición 40%H2, 40%N2 y 20%CO con flujo constante de 100 cm3/min y variaciones de acetileno con flujos de 40cm3/min, 65cm3/min y 85cm3/min. Estos gases se inyectaron en el reactor a 900ºC y se sostuvieron por tres horas. Se seleccionó gas acetileno como agente enriquecedor de carbono en la atmósfera debido a los elevados ratios de descomposición que presentan estas moléculas y a la baja tendencia a desarrollar reacciones de polimerización. La caracterización de los aceros carburizados se realizó mediante microscopia óptica (MO), espectrometría de emisión óptica (EEO) y ensayos de microdureza Vickers (HV). Los resultados revelan que existe una gran eficiencia y control en la transferencia de carbono durante el ciclo de carburización, favoreciendo la optimización de recursos y tiempos de proceso.
