Este trabalho insere-se no campo dos Estudos Surdos e das Relação-Étnicos Raciais, realizando uma discussão interseccional entre surdez e raça e tendo por objetivo analisar a ocupação de vagas por estudantes negros/as surdos/as nos cursos de graduação em instituições federais de ensino superior. O percurso metodológico de abordagem quantitativa contemplou uma análise de microdados do Censo do Ensino Superior relativos às matriculas de negros/as surdos/as em cursos de Letras Libras e em outros cursos de graduação em instituições federais de ensino superior, com recorte temporal entre 2009 e 2016. Os dados foram sistematizados através do Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. A criação do curso de graduação em Letras Libras, na modalidade a distância, em 2006, apresenta-se como principal fator da significativa ampliação no número de matrículas de estudantes surdos/as no ensino superior no período. A situação de negros/as surdos/as, contudo, não acompanha essa curva ascendente. Entre 2009 e 2013, houve um decréscimo significativo de matrículas desse grupo, apesar de os negros constituírem 50,06% da população surda. A partir daí, com a aprovação da Lei de Cotas no ensino superior em 2012, ano após ano tem-se observado um aumento significativo na ocupação de vagas pela comunidade negra surda em diferentes cursos de graduação, sinalizando a importância de ações afirmativas que contemplem a interseccionalidade entre a questão racial e a diferença linguística que singulariza as identidades de pessoas negras surdas.
