The purpose of this study is to describe the culture of senpai-kohai in a Japanese society system that has a vertical structure. The data used are several literature on Japanese seniority system (senpai-kohai) and interviews with several informants. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive. Data collection with library studies, observations, and interviews to explore deeply about the experiences of informants related to seniority system in Japan. In analyzing data, researchers used the qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this study show that the culture of senpai-kohai in the lives of Japanese people is reflected in the educational environment, club or organizational environment, work environment, and family environment. In addition to the family environment, senpai-kohai relations are shown through the attitude and actions of a senior to help, maintain, and guide his junior. Conversely, juniors also must behave in accordance with the guidance, instructions, and orders of their seniors. In addition, juniors must also respect and respect their seniors through the use of polite language (keigo) and keep his words
Tradisi bedah blumbang yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat Dusun Gintungan di kaki Gunung Ungaran merupakan rangkaian upacara merti dusun atau sering dikenal dengan tradisi bersih desa. Artikel ini membahas bagaimana peran tradisi bedah blumbang dalam praktek konservasi sumber daya air di kaki Gunung Ungaran serta makna tradisi tersebut pada masyarakat Dusun Gintungan. Praktek tradisi bedah blumbang telah mengalami berbagai perubahan serta improvisasi pelaksanaannya, mulai dari tata acara, kelengkapan upacara, hingga keterlibatan masyarakat. Tidak hanya masayarakat Dusun Gintungan saja yang terlibat, tetapi juga para pemangku kebijakan di tingkat pemerintahan. Bedah blumbang juga menjadi salah satu atraksi wisata di Dusun Gintungan. Keberlimpahan air di Dusun Gintungan juga belum terkelola dengan baik, warga masih menganggap air adalah sumber daya yang tidak akan habis sehingga warga cenderung menggunakannya tanpa batas. Akan tetapi, mitos-mitos yang berkembang di masyarakat seputar sumber mata air menjadi pengontrol masyarakat dalam memanfaatka sumber daya alam sekitar mereka, khususnya sumber daya air. Bedah blumbang kini berfungsi sebagai penjaga tradisi, penjaga kerukunan antar warga, ajang berwisata, dan sebagai pengingat leluhur mereka. proses konservasi lingkungan secara tidak langsung terjadi pada saat mengingat mitos tentang leluhur, dengan demikian warga terus menjaga kelestarian blumbang yang menjadi sumber mata air bagi warga Dusun Gintungan dan sekitarnya. Penelitian ini adalah penelitan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipasi. Wawancara mendalam dan observasi dimaksudkan untuk mendapatkan data primer.
This paper aims to identify the technique translation of directive speech act that used in two Japanese stories of Mahou Hakushi by Iwaya Sazanami and Hashire Merosu by Dazai Osamu. Those stories are two translation works of Japanese literature in the book of Antologi Kesusastraan Anak Jepang (Nihon Jidou bungaku Senshuu). This book contains children"s literature that translated from Japanese to Indonesian by Antonius Pujo. Those two stories selected because there are many speech act in that, and the directive is considered as most interesting speech act than the other ones. This paper used descriptive qualitative method. The total number of the collected data are 50. The result show there are seven types of translation technique with total usage frequency 72 times. Those techniques are as follow :
Like a coin, language and culture are two things that can not be separated. Through language, we can see the concept that is owned by a nation. In this article, the author intends to write one of the concepts embraced by Japanese society, namely uchi-soto. The embodiment of this concept is visible from the language they use. The structure in the demontrative pronoun (kosoado), the give-receive verb (jujudoushi), the honorific word (keigo), the forms of personal pronoun are the many Japanese patterns that presenting the uchi- soto. This article aims to explain the form and expression of the basic Japanese use of the concept on the value of uchi-soto through various examples of sentences anad speech. The data used in this article is taken from various libraries, such as from textbooks, short stories and dialogue in Japanese movies.
