<p class="Abstrak"><strong>Abstract:</strong> This paper presents the integration between the use of technology and conventional learning and teaching process. Taking advantage of technology in classroom like the use of Wattpad by integrating with process-genre approach helps students to make the classroom activities become more efficient. This objective of this paper is to show the effect of using Wattpad in teaching and learning process by integrating with process-genre approach towards students’ writing achievement. The treatment starts from pre-test, and end with post-test. The result in this study shows after the students teach by using Wattpad gain better writing achievement than before using it. </p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Penelitian ini berisi tentang integrasi antara penggunaan teknologi dan pembelajaran konvensional pada proses pembelajaran. Mengambil kelebihan dari teknologi pada pembelajaran di kelas, seperti penggunaan Wattpad dengan mengintegrasikan pendekatan <em>Process-genre, </em>hal ini meningkatkan tingkat keefisiensian kegiatan pemblejaran di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keefektifan penggunaan Wattpad yang diintegerasikan dengan pendekatan <em>process-genre</em> pada proses pembelajaran terhadap penacapaian menulis siswa. Penelitian yang dilakukan dimulai dari <em>pretest</em> dan diakhiri dengan <em>posttest</em>. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan siswa yang telah belajar menggunakan Wattpad memiliki pencapaian menulis yang lebih baik daripada sebelum menggunakannya.
This research is intended at investigating the effect of suggestopedia method on Indonesian EFL learners’ reading achievement in descriptive texts. Suggestopedia method in this research described as the use of classic music as the background in the process of teaching and learning. This research used Quasiexperimental research design and involving two classes of SMP Al Izzah IIBS, Batu. There were 30 students as the experimental group and 27 students as control group. The participants were given treatment of suggestopedia in 3 meetings (each meeting lasted for 90 minutes). They were given two kinds of tests as the instrument in this study, namely pre-test and post-test. The result of the pre-test and post-test was analyzed by using t-test in SPSS. The research revealed that there was a significant progress between the pre-testand the post-test score.
<p>This conceptual paper provides a future study based on a strategy of utilizing Edmodo to teach writing with a genre based approach (GBA) in the blended learning platform. Innovation in English teaching and learning process, especially in writing skills in this rapid growth technology era becomes challenge for teachers. Lack of time allocation, students’ writing skill, and the attention of writing significance become the obstacles in teaching and learning process. However, teaching writing needs appropriate approach in order to have good capability in writing skills. This paper went on to analyze suitable approach in teaching writing. This paper consists of the stages of genre-based approach namely Building Knowledge of the Field (BKOF), Modeling of the Text (MOT), Joining Construction of the Text (JCOT), and Independent Construction of the Text (ICOT) will be implemented through face to face activity and online by taking the advantage of Edmodo. The classroom activity was conducted to provide students with the basic concept of writing while the online activity was carried out in addressing the issues of limited time allotment for English writing, lack of students writing skill, and writing process significance in learning English. The conceptual paper signifies to supplement literatures for academics as reference for their research. The result of this future research may provide information about utilizing Edmodo to teach writing with a genre based approach. It will also be relevant to teachers who have difficulty in teaching writing.</p>
Students’ academic performance is influenced by many factors such as previous academic background and level of motivation. There have been several studies trying to find out the correlation between students’ previous academic background and their learning achievement. However the results are not convincing. Though it is found out that there is correlation between students’ academic background and their learning achievement, the value of correlation is small. There have been also many researches investigating the impact of students’ motivation and their academic gain. However, the correlational study on students’ perception on academic background and their learning motivation is rare undertaking.
