This paper proposes a new scenario of serviceoriented architecture in combination with multi-agents systems, replacing the one implemented in CORBA platforms. The scenario proposed makes use of JADE, an agent development environment, integrated with the OSGi framework. As a conceptual proof, a simulation environment for the 0800 free phone service was developed. It is expected that the advantages of the proposed architecture can be used in the development, distribution and mobility of more complex applications and services in the NGN services architectures.
Abstract. This paper proposes a scenario of service-oriented architecture based on OSGi technology, in combination with multi agents systems developed using JADE environment. A key part of the scenario is the new architecture for SIP application server as part of the IMS Core network. As a proof of concept, a simulated environment for a televoting service was implemented. The major contributions of this work are the identification and analysis of jitter, variation of jitter, packet loss, load capacity and CPU utilization of the JADE/OSGi SIP-AS. Test results validate the approach and show good overall performance.
This paper proposes a new scalable service-oriented architecture based on Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGI) technology. A key part of this architecture is its SIP application as a service (SIP-AS). It relies on IMS core network supported by multi agents components implemented using Java Agent DEvelopment (JADE) platform. As a proof of concept, a real testbed/prototype has been developed to validate our approach. The validation process consisted of two phases: (i) configuration of the JADE/OSGi SIP-AS architecture to provide a televoting service and (ii) characterization and analysis of jitter, packet loss, load capacity and CPU utilization of the implemented architecture. Results demonstrate that this televoting service scales up and out enabling the elasticity of the architecture on the processing of concurrent calls and dynamic load balancing.
