Os registros de episódios de intoxicações exógenas ocorrem diariamente em humanos. Estes casos acontecem também em animais domésticos de estimação, muitas vezes por curiosidade das vítimas, ou ainda por falta de segurança na manipulação dos produtos químicos. Inúmeras são as substâncias tóxicas existentes, sendo que a origem pode ser animal, vegetal, mineral ou sintética. Estes agentes químicos podem ser capazes de causar danos aos seres vivos, considerando a toxicidade dos mesmos, dose, via de exposição, tempo decorrido para os primeiros socorros. Poucos dados existem em relação aos animais, por tratar-se de não obrigatoriedade de notificações. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar um levantamento sobre os casos de intoxicação em animais domésticos, bem como identificar as principais substâncias tóxicas envolvidas na rotina de um laboratório de análises toxicológicas de uma universidade do interior do estado de São Paulo, num período de 10 anos (2003-2012). Realizar exames laboratoriais solicitados ao laboratório de análises toxicológicas, para pesquisa de agentes tóxicos que forem solicitados no período de junho a outubro de 2012. O método utilizado para análise toxicológica foi CCD (Cromatografia em Camada Delgada) para identificação do agente tóxico causador da intoxicação e morte do animal. As espécies de animais foram 78,8% cães e 21,2% gatos, dentre os resultados positivos, estiveram 92,85% para dicumarínicos e 7,15% para organofosforado. Aumentar a vigilância e realizar campanhas educativas, podem ser um aliado no combate ao uso de agrotóxicos para eliminar cães e gatos. Palavras-chave: Intoxicação. Animais domésticos.
