Resumo Neste artigo propomos um dispositivo para demonstrações em sala de aula de ressonância em hastes cilíndricas. O dispositivo consiste em um aro com hastes de diferentes comprimentos ligado a uma fonte de vibração. Alterando-se a frequência de vibração, as hastes entram em ressonância, permitindo uma análise qualitativa dos modos de vibração. Apresentamos um modelo simplificado para descrever os harmônicos das hastes, o qual liga suas características geométricas e materiais com a frequência de ressonância. Especificamente, mostramos que a frequência de ressonância é inversamente proporcional ao quadrado do comprimento de uma haste e que, dadas frequência, geometria e densidade de uma haste, podemos obter o módulo de elasticidade do seu material. Validamos o modelo pelos resultados experimentais e propomos novas aplicações para o dispositivo.
