Az 5. sz. második harmadára jellemzők a préselt aranylemezből, aranyozott ezüstlemezből és aranyozott rézötvözet lemezből álló leletegyüttesek. Jelen tanulmányban az ún. préselt aranylemezes horizontba tartozó négy Kárpát-medencei lószerszámzatos leletegyüttes (Árpás, Budapest-Zugló, Pannonhalma, SzederkényKukorica dűlő) roncsolásmentes (kézi XRF) vizsgálatának eredményeit mutatjuk be. A kutatás célja a lószerszámzatok anyagösszetételének meghatározása, valamint azon kérdés megválaszolása, következtethetünk-e arra az eredmények alapján, hogy a leletegyüttes bizonyos tárgyai más műhelyben, esetleg egy műhelyen belül, de másik ötvös keze által készültek, vagy sérülés miatt pótlásra került sor. Az eredmények alapján a négy lelőhely lemezei változatos összetételű aranyötvözetből készültek. Ugyanakkor a pannonhalmi leletegyüttes különböző funkciójú tárgyait (zablapálca, szíjelosztók, téglalap alakú veretek, nagajka) borító aranylemezek összetétele igen hasonló, tehát akár egy időben, egy műhelyben is készülhettek. A Kárpát-medencei aranylemezes lószerszámveretek anyagösszetétele széles skálán helyezkedik el, ami arra utal, hogy az egyes tárgytípusok (zabla, kantárzat és nyereg) nem feltétlenül egy helyen, egy időben készültek. Annyi biztosan kijelenthető, hogy a nyereglemezek mindegyik példánya (Pécsüszög, Szeged-Nagyszéksós, Pannonhalma) – két leletegyüttes, a bátaszéki és a szederkényi kivételével – nagyon nagy tisztaságú aranyból készült. A kantárveretek kisebb aranytartalma adódhat technikai okból, mivel ezeknek a használatukból kifolyólag tartósabbnak kellett lenniük, gyakrabban érte őket súrlódás. A hosszabb használati idő érdekében az aranylemezeknél réz vagy bronz alátétlemezeket alkalmaztak, amelyeket általában szegecsekkel erősítettek egymáshoz.
