Seit den 1990er-Jahren wird verstärkt über Formen der konfessionellen Kooperation im Religionsunterricht nachgedacht. Seither kam es zu verschiedenen Vereinbarungen zwischen den Kirchen, zahlreichen Praxisbeispielen und wissenschaftlich begleitenden Evaluationen. Doch ist es aus demographischen, gesellschaftlichen, theologischen und religionspädagogischen Gründen notwendig geworden, die Formate innerchristlicher Kooperation für interreligiöse Kooperationen zu öffnen. In diesem Beitrag wird den Fragen nachgegangen, welche kooperativen Formate es über das Christentum hinaus bereits gibt, wie diese in der Schule genau aussehen können, welche Erfahrungen gemacht werden und wie diese kooperativen Formen des Religionsunterrichts stärker institutionalisiert werden können.
