Meibography is the most reliable ophthalmic examination to establish a clinical diagnosis in individuals with suspected hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, even before genetic test results are available. Tear film tests and ocular surface staining are less sensitive in children, but very helpful for estimating the severity of ocular surface disease in individuals with known XLHED.
AbstractInfrared Regulation Imaging (IRI) is a specific application of the infrared thermography, combined with a stimulus regulation test. Infrared diagnosis has a spreading use in USA and in Canada as well as in East Asia. The method bears a lot of advantages, especially used for early detection and prevention of chronic and malignant diseases, but also for the control of medical treatment and for follow up investigations. The method is frequently asked by the patients because it is totally non-invasive. Highly advanced is MammoVision, the infrared mammography. But also ReguVision, checking the whole body by Infrared Regulation Imaging, has reached a high grade of maturity by using decades of experience collected by the method of regulation thermography. Respecting the limits of the method Infrared Regulation Imaging leads to an evident widening of the diagnostic facilities in clinics and also used by GPs. The kind of diagnostic information received by IRI can not be gathered by any other method. Physicians applying the IRI method have to be approved by one of the international medical thermological associations.
