In jüngster Zeit werden vermehrt Hohlprofilkonstruktionen auch im Brückenbau eingesetzt. Die Ausführung und Bemessung solcher Konstruktionen ist eng mit der Frage der Ausbildung der Knoten verbunden. Die zwei unterschiedlichen Möglichkeiten Stahlgußknoten oder Schweißknoten werden hinsichtlich ihrer Vor‐ und Nachteile z. T. kontrovers diskutiert.
In diesem Beitrag wird versucht, die Anwendung von Hohlprofilkonstruktionen im Brückenbau und insbesondere die Ausbildung der Knoten als Stahlgußknoten oder Schweißknoten bezüglich der Teilaspekte Tragfähigkeit, Ermüdung, Fertigung und Wirtschaftlichkeit zu bewerten und zu vergleichen, um so Entscheidungshinweise für die Praxis und der zukünftigen Entwicklungen der Hohlprofilknoten im Brückenbau zu geben.
Am Beispiel der sich derzeit im Bau befindlichen Talbrücke Korntal‐Münchingen wird gezeigt, daß im konkreten Fall anstelle der zum Einsatz kommenden Stahlgußknoten auch Schweißknoten möglich gewesen wären. Unter Anwendung des Strukturspannungskonzepts konnte diese Frage vor allem hinsichtlich der Ermüdungssicherheit der Schweißknotenverbindungen geklärt werden.
