Actualmente existen problemas que afectan de manera simultánea las dimensiones sociales, económicas, científicas y culturales de la sociedad. Lo anterior requiere que las instituciones educativas no solo formen profesionales para atender el mercado laboral, sino también personas conscientes de que, a partir de su profesión, deben ayudar a resolver dichos problemas. En concecuencia, esta investigación se enfocó en determinar el nivel de responsabilidad social del estudiante de una escuela de negocios en una universidad pública de México. Se incluye una revisión teórica y metodológica relacionada con las diferentes dimensiones de responsabilidad social y responsabilidad social del estudiante universitario. La metodología fue no experimental con enfoque cuantitativo ex-post-facto. La muestra se integró por 385 estudiantes de las licenciaturas de Administración y Contaduría Pública. Se aplicó estadística descriptiva, el coeficiente de correlación de Rho de Spearman y la prueba t de Student. Los resultados determinaron que los estudiantes tienen, un alto nivel de responsabilidad social como universitarios, así como un compromiso social con su comunidad. Los hallazgos permitieron concluir que sin importar el género, la edad o la licenciatura que cursen, los estudiantes tienen un compromiso social como profesionistas y una actitud positiva respecto a su responsabilidad social como universitarios.
