La evanescencia de las lenguas aborígenes se aceleró durante las últimas décadas del siglo pasado, estimándose que en la presente centuria desaparecerán más de la mitad de los 4000 idiomas existentes. Lamentablemente no existen reportes favorables acerca de experiencias de recuperación y revitalización lingüística, por lo que se deben tomar medidas urgentes. En algunos territorios estos idiomas se ven relegados a la condición de dialectos y están desvalorizadas en relación con el lenguaje nacional, lo cual las condena a una muerte segura. El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en explorar sobre la variedad dialectal del Quichua Santiagueño haciendo hincapié en el aspecto lingüístico y socio histórico.
En este escrito nos proponemos exponer la reflexión teórica y las actividades en campo que desarrollamos en el marco de un Proyecto de Extensión Universitaria.El objetivo del mismo fue explorar en los bienes tangibles e intangibles de la comunidad rural de Sumampa Viejo, Departamento Quebrachos, en la provincia de Santiago del Estero, Argentina, para evaluar su potencial de convertirse en patrimonializables.El poblado cuenta con recursos culturales, arqueológicos e históricos que son percibidos por los pobladores como su entorno natural, desconociendo el potencial turístico que este conjunto de recursos naturales y culturales poseen.Sostenemos que se precisa de un plan de promoción y desarrollo desde el Estado, y con la participación de otros actores de la comunidad, para llevar adelante un conjunto de políticas públicas que potencien a Sumampa como destino turístico.
Todo idioma es un instrumento eficaz para elaborar el conocimiento del mundo, las lenguas no solo permiten crearnos un mundo propio de ideas y conceptos, sino que también a través de ella podemos comunicarnos con los demás. Se estima que existen alrededor de 300 lenguas aborígenes que están en riesgo de desaparecer en Latinoamérica, las políticas lingüísticas (en algunos casos inexistentes) deberían resguardar este patrimonio cultural. En la región Latinoamericana, la lengua aborigen que cuenta con un número mayor de hablantes es el quechua, con aproximadamente 10.000.000, los cuales se encuentran geográficamente distribuidos entre Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia y Argentina. Este trabajo pone en relación las políticas lingüísticas en Argentina, su planificación y utilización concreta en el período que va desde mediados del siglo XIX hasta el siglo XX.
